Zylpha (Shelton) Henson 1893-1984

Zylpha Shelton Henson was born August 4, 1893 in Miller County to Johnny and Mary Jane McDowell Shelton and passed away Monday, June 18, 1984, at Lebanon Care Center. She had attained the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 14 days at the time of her passing.

On February 20, 1913, she was united in marriage to Dell Henson, and to this union five children were born: Lloyd and Fern passed away at an early age. Ruth Scott, Floyd Henson and Warren Henson survive. Her husband, Dell, passed away March 7, 1974.

In addition to her husband and two children, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and two sisters.

In addition to her two sons and one daughter, she is survived by one sister, Bertha Haywood, and one brother, Alford Shelton, both of Kellyville, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of wonderful friends.

Aunt Zylpha, as she was called by many, was a good Christian lady and loved by all who met her. She was a long time member of Beulah Baptist Church. Her passing is Heaven’s gain.

Services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dale Hufft officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were grandsons.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland, Missouri.
