Leman W. Wilson 1923-1986

Leman W. Wilson, age 63, Rt. 72, Box 5-B, Kaiser, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 29, 1986 at the Harry S. Truman V.A. Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.  He was born August 8, 1923 in Richland, Missouri to Baker and Opal Henson Wilson.

He was married to Mona E. Hogue August 5, 1942 in Camdenton, Missouri.

He was as a lifetime resident of Pulaski and Miller Counties.  Veteran of WW II in the Navy.  Retired from Kirkwood Lodge at Lake of the Ozarks in 1985.  Is a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Kaiser, Missouri.

Survivors include: Mona E. Wilson wife of the home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Baker Wilson of Richland, Missouri; Jerry Wilson, son of Kaiser; Wilda Trusley, daughter of Brumley, Missouri; brothers: Vernon Baker, and Dean Wilson all of Richland, Missouri; Don Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri; and Doyle Wilson of Illinois; sisters: Violet Osborn, Bonnie Starnes, and Sue Paul all of Richland, Missouri.

Visitation was October 1, 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Griswold-Kays Chapel, Eldon, Missouri.

Funeral services were at New Hope Baptist Church, Kaiser, Missouri, on October 2, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Curtis Wilson, Rev. Hank Tannehill, and Rev. Ralph Byrd officiating.

Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery, Kaiser, Missouri under the direction of Griswold-Kays Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Henson 1958-1986

Bobby Joe Henson, son of Bob and Shirley Henson, was born in Waynesville, Missouri on June 7, 1958, and departed this life February 13, 1986 at his home in rural Richalnd.

“Joe” as he was known by his family and friends, attended Richland schools from 1972 until he graduated in 1976.  In 1980 he joined the United States Army and served until 1984.  He was presently employed at Witmor Farms.

As a young boy, Joe became a member of the Richland United Methodist Church and has remained a member there.

Those surviving include his parents: Bob and Shirley Henson of Richland; one son B.J. of Richland, and one daughter Ada Lee of Peoria, Illinois; his natural mother, Imogene Wilson of Lebanon; two brothers: Mikel of Richland, Erwin of Sanger, Texas; one sister Vickie Crismon of Crocker; a half brother Tom Wilson and a half sister Marie Stretch both of Lebanon; and his grandparents, Erwin and Velma Trietsch of Flowermound, Texas and Gertie Durham of Richland; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Ella Henson, and his grandfather, Charlie Durham.

Funeral services were held at the Richland United Methodist Church Sunday, February 16, 1986, at 2:30 p.m. with John Appling and Elvis Pentecost officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, solist and Rosalynn York, organist.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels.

Escorts were: Raymond Scott, Frank Tucker, Terry Becker, Carl Winget, David Miller, and Roy Alexander.

Honorary escorts were: Donnie Henson, Steve Starnes, and David Becker.

William Edgar McKinnon 1903-1985

William Edgar McKinnon was born a son to John Andrew and Charlotte Agnes (Henson) McKinnon on January 5, 1903 in Dixon, Missouri and he departed this life on Monday morning, July 15, 1985 at the University Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri, having attained the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

He was converted in a Pentecostal Church in 1947, and was baptized May 2, 1971 and united with the First Baptist Church at St. Robert, Missouri.

Edgar united in marriage to Goldie (Wade) McKinnon April 9, 1925, and to this union six children were born. They shared 60 years and four months of love and devotion together.

He lived in Pulaski County area all of his life within a few miles of where he was born.

Edgar worked in the timber and drove a truck, also worked in the lumber yard for 22 years before he retired in 1965.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Cecil Edward McKinnon, and one daughter, Helen Marie Farris.

Edgar McKinnon is survived by his loving wife, Goldie of the home; one son, William Lawrence McKinnon of Springfield, Missouri; three daughters, Dorothy May Pearson of Waynesville, Missouri; Georgia McElroy of Kansas City, Missouri; and Sandra Louise Knapp of Rolla, Missouri; two brothers, Howard and Delmar McKinnon, both of Waynesville, Missouri; four sisters, Celie Helms of the state of California; Ora Wade and Flossie Ashlock, both of Waynesville, Missouri; and Eula Stowell of Granby, Missouri; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, July 18, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mel Watson officiating.

Music was provided by Janell Walters, soloist, and Marjorie Link, organist.

Serving as escorts were Danny McElroy, Mark McElroy, Ricky McElroy, Lenny Pearson, Don Scott, and Steve Wilkinson.

Interment followed in the Dunkard Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Beulah Henson Lundh 1925-1984

Beulah Henson Lundh was born in Richland, Missouri October 3, 1925, to Mack and Jessie Fenton Henson, and passed away February 29, 1984 in Springfield, Missouri following a lingering illness. At the time of her passing, she had attained the age of 58 years, 4 months and 26 days.

She accepted Christ as her personal saviour at a very early age at the First Baptist Church of Richland where she was a member at the time of her death.

August 16, 1941 she was united in marriage to John C. Lundh, and to this union was born 1 son.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bobby Don, and an infant sister, Rosalyn.

Survivors are her husband John C. of the home; parents Mack and Jessie Henson, Richland, Missouri; 1 son, Don, brother, Kenneth Henson, Richland; 1 sister, Pauline McDonald, Kansas City, Missouri; 3 grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Services for Beulah Lundh were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 1984. Officiating at the services was Pryor Ray Prewett. Music was provided by Dwight Roam, Soloist; and Marcia Shadel, Organist. Burial was in the Swede Cemetery.

Escorts was Tennis Ogle, Frank Perry, Billy Henson, Raymond Powers, Drue Rayl and Wayne Henson. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.

Zylpha (Shelton) Henson 1893-1984

Zylpha Shelton Henson was born August 4, 1893 in Miller County to Johnny and Mary Jane McDowell Shelton and passed away Monday, June 18, 1984, at Lebanon Care Center. She had attained the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 14 days at the time of her passing.

On February 20, 1913, she was united in marriage to Dell Henson, and to this union five children were born: Lloyd and Fern passed away at an early age. Ruth Scott, Floyd Henson and Warren Henson survive. Her husband, Dell, passed away March 7, 1974.

In addition to her husband and two children, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and two sisters.

In addition to her two sons and one daughter, she is survived by one sister, Bertha Haywood, and one brother, Alford Shelton, both of Kellyville, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of wonderful friends.

Aunt Zylpha, as she was called by many, was a good Christian lady and loved by all who met her. She was a long time member of Beulah Baptist Church. Her passing is Heaven’s gain.

Services were held Wednesday, June 29, 1984, 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dale Hufft officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist.

Escorts were grandsons.

Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland, Missouri.

Mack William Henson 1901-1984

Mack William Henson, son of Birt and Lou Sinda Henson, was born on a farm in Camden County, near Richland, July 1, 1901 and departed this life March 3, 1984 in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 2 days.

On March 30, 1919 he was united in marriage to Jessie Opal Fenton, to this union were born five children. He was preceded in death by one daughter Beulah Lundh, an infant daughter. Rosalyn Eileen and an infant son Bobby Don, his parents, two brothers, Deverett and Leslie, one grandson, and one great granddaughter.

Mack was converted and united with the Richland Baptist Church several years ago. He was employed with International Shoe Company for fourteen years and retired in 1962.

Those left to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Jessie of the home; one son, Kenneth and daughter-in-law Darlene Henson of Richland, one daughter Pauline McDonald and son-in-law Clifton McDonald of Odessa, Missouri; three brothers, Jess and Everett both of Richland; and Mark of Parker, Washington; three sisters, Opal Wilson of Richland, Flicha Andrews of Camdenton, and Rosalie Ray of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Our Daddy

My father was a quiet man. Beloved by one and all. Everyone who knew my Dad. Fond memories can recall. He lived a very humble life content with what he had. I never heard him once complain. This man who was my Dad.

He farmed the land most of his life and planted seeds in season. The seed he sowed the deepest grows in my heart and reason. He taught me right, from infant up, and in his gentle way. He really drove the lesson home by living it each day.

He gave me many gifts in life that money can not buy. The gifts of honesty and truth I treasure very high. He taught me to be thankful for what ever things we had. But most of all I’m thankful that I had him for my Dad.

Services for Mack W. Henson were held at Colonial Funeral Chapel 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 1984. Officiating at the services was Pryor Ray Prewett. Music was provided by Dwight Roam, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist. Burial was in the Mt. View Cemetery. Escorts were nephews. Under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels of Richland, Missouri.

Rodney Gene Henson 1961-1984

Rodney Gene Henson, son of Wayne Henson and Jewell Reid Ogle, was born October 29, 1961 in Oahu, Hawaii. He departed this life on July 7, 1984 as the result of a swimming accident. At the time of his death he was22 years, 8 months and 8 days of age.

On March 7, 1981 he was united in marriage to Paula Sue Murphy at Lebanon, Missouri. Rodney was a construction worker and had lived in this community for the past 19 years. He was a member of the Independence Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother Darrell Wayne on July 12, 1980.

He is survived by his wife, Susie of the home; one daughter, Crytsal Jewell of Camdenton; his father, Wayne Henson of Granbury, Texas; his mother, Jewell Ogle of Richland; one brother, Randal Henson of Richland; three sisters, Betty Crockiel of Tunas, Linda Myers, of Richland and Shirlene Carlson of Richland; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Reid of Richland and Bertha Sangster of Ector, Texas; 13 nieces, four nephews, four great-nephews and one great niece; other relatives and many, many friends.

Rodney was a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother. He was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all.

In the quietness of the afternoon

Rodney heard her soft and gentle
Voice and felt her touch.
He knew his time had come.
Only God in His wisdom knows

Mrs Ella Adeline (Calvert) Henson 1898-1971

Funeral services for Mrs Ella Adeline Henson, 75 of Richland will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday in Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church at Montreal Missouri., With the Rev. Ralph Zumwalt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Moss-Williams of Richland.

Mrs Henson died at 12:30 A.M. at her home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Surviving are her husband Gilbert, nine sons, Walter Albuquerque, N.M., James, Houston Tex. Bobby and Clifford both of Lousiville Tex. Jewell Brighton Colo.., Charles, Jr. Warren and Jack all of Richland and John, Stoutland; two daughters Mrs Dorothy Pentecost of Waterloo, Ill. and Mrs Maxinr Luttrell, Richland; two brothers, Otto Calvert, Richland and Rosco Calvert, Brumley; two sisters, Mrs Elsie Shelton, Lebanon, and Mrs Effie Hollinsworth Piper Kan. 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Sarah G.(Duncan) Henson 1829-1906

This entry is from the J.J. Watts collection. John J. Watts hailed from Warren, Maine and moved to the northern Ozarks of Missouri sometime after the Civil War. He was a circuit-riding Baptist Minister and his territory covered Phelps, Pulaski, and Texas Counties and parts of Maries and Dent Counties. He established a cemetery, Watt’s Lawn, which is located 1 mile West of J Highway, near the Pulaski County-Phelps County line. This collection covers 1878-1912.

Died at her home near Tribune, Post Office in Pulaski Co., MO, Sept. 26th 1906, Sarah G., wife of Andrew Jackson Henson, aged 76 ys., 10 ms., & 25 days. She was born in Jefferson Co., MO, Oct. 31th 1829 and was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary Duncan and was of a family of 11 children, 6 sons, & 5 daughters, all supposed to have passed away. Oct. 19th 1858 she was united in marriage with A.J. Henson at Oak Hill Methodist Church in Jefferson Co., MO, who survives her. One daughter was born unto them, Mary Alice Henson and who died Dec. 16th 1890, aged 26 ys, 4 ms, & 7 days. One grand-son survives, John Andrew Henson, born Sept. _0th 1888. Sister Henson & her twin sister Mary embraced a hope in Christ early in life & joined 1st the M.E. Church & later the Free Baptist Ch.
