James Alan Goforth 1951-1983

James Alan Goforth, son of James W. and Dorothy Sturgeon was born May 17, 1951 at Lebanon, Missouri, and departed this life June 11, 1983 at Cox Medical Center.

Jimmie, as he was known to friends, graduated from Richland High School in 1969.

As a young man he professed his faith in Christ, and was baptized April 5, 1965, at First Baptist Church in Richland, later transferring his membership to the High Point Baptist Church.

On September 8, 1972 he was united in marriage to Linda Brown, and to this union were born two sons, both surviving.

For the past 13 years he has been employed by Independent Stave Company in Lebanon.

He is survived by his wife Linda and two sons: James Adrain (Jamie), and Jeremy Alan, all of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James W. Goforth of Richland; two sisters: Rae Lynne Payne, Richland, and Debra Ann Fowler, Springfield, Missouri; his paternal grandparents: Charles Paul and Edith Goforth of Richland; also a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother Sturgeon.

Services were held Tuesday, June 14, 1983, 2:00 p.m., at High Point Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Jones and Rev. Jack Woodard officiating.

Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist, and Delores Shadel, accompanist.

Escorts were Kenny York, Terry Chance, Duane Johnson, Ward Alan Ledbetter, Bryce Payne, and Art Anthony.

Burial was in the High Point Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapel of Richland, Missouri.
