Floe Elizabeth Burchard Rollins

Floe Elizabeth Burchard Rollins, 91, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ozark Methodist Manor, Marionville, where she had resided since 1987.

She was born in Waynesville, Nov. 3, 1902, the youngest of nine children of John Riley Burchard and Elizabeth Bostick Burchard.

She had been a resident of Springfield since 1932, and was employed for several years as a Dorm Mother at SMSU. She was a longtime member  of St. Paul United Methodist Church and the 50-50 Class. She was also a lifelong member of Eastern Star in Waynesville and had belonged to the White Shrine in Springfield for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; and sisters.

She is survived by five nieces; two nephews and their families.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Maple Park Cemetery under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.

The family requests memorial donations to St. Paul United Methodist Church, Springfield.

Thomas Bryan Rollins d. 20 September 1960

Funeral services for Thomas Bryan Rollins, 63, Gary, Ind., who died Tuesday in Phoenix, Ariz., while on vacation, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville with the Rev. A.J. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under direction of Hedges of Waynesville.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three brothers, James D., Waynesville, John W., Springfield, and Sterling J., Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Pierson, Waynesville, Mrs. Reed R. Howlett, Richland, and Mrs. Walter Burchard, Waynesville.

There will be graveside services by the Waynesville Masonic Lodge.

James M. Rollins (1830-1913)

JAMES M. ROLLINS Was born in Virginia Sept. 25, 1830, died in Waynesville, Mo., June 12, 1913, aged 82 years, 8 months and 17 days. In 1851 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah J. Martin in Va., and in 1858, they moved to Pulaski county, Missouri, settling what is known as the "Rollins farm" near Bellefonte. Nine children were born to this union, seven surviving, namely: H.E. of Dixon, Mrs. G.W. Pippin, of Richland; E.M., of Willow Springs; R.R., of Winona; J.C., of Brownfield; Mrs. J.B. Morgan, of Waynesville and Sam T., of Waynesville. The eldest daughter became the wife of T.S. Barlow and died many years ago, while a son Thomas M. was drowned in the Gasconade river June 10, 1892. Deceased is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He raised one grandchild, G.R. Barlow and one nephew, C.J. McDonald. During the war he served in the army as a Union soldier and was converted while in the army, later he joined the Baptist church and lived in a consistent christian life thereafter, being one of the founders and pillars of Berean Baptist Church.

In 1870, he was elected to the office of Sheriff and Collector, and re-elected in 1872, retiring in 1874, after four years service. He was an honest and faithful servant of the people while in office, and as a private citizen his excellence and worth can hardly be estimated. Suffice to say his life (its influence) will live after him, and in the future will reveal more and more his real worth.

He belonged distinctively to that class of pioneers who have made this county what it is today, in a time when it took real men to face conditions as they found them and by honest, patient toil change them to conform more nearly to the requirements of more advanced educational and moral standards. He endeavored to the full measure of his ability, to leave the world better than he found it. Therefore, through example, he still lives among us. To him the mystery of death has been disclosed, and with the aid of Christian faith we may, with consolation, perceive immortality beyond that mysterious line.

He was laid to rest Friday afternoon in the family burying ground, on the old homestead, beside his beloved companion who preceded him to the grave about four years ago. Rev. J.L. Hicks, pastor of the Waynesville Baptist Church conducting the funeral, surrounded by all the family except one son R.R. of Winona, who was unable to make train connections in time to get there. Rev. T.J. Zumwalt and W.W. Nickels, two pioneer patriarchs and life-long friends of the deceased, were present, and amidst a death-like silence, with forms bowed with grief and the weight of years, each with shattered voices, through their tears added their testimony to his life and character, and expressed renewed confidence in the hope of immortality, and that living should be a preparation for eternity.

Sarah Jane (Martin) Rollins 1834-1909

Mrs. Sarah J. Rollins, the subject of this sketch, was born in Scott county, Va. the 5th day of June, 1834. Died at her home in Waynesville 6th day of January, 1909, after an illness of about eight months duration.

She was married to James M. Rollins December 1851 in Va., where her family then resided; after seven years she with her companion and little ones removed to Missouri in the year 1858, and have since resided near this place. There were born into this home 9 children all of which grew to man and womanhood: Emily Barlow, deceased, H.E. Rollins of Dixon, Elisha M. of Thayer, Theodosia Pippin, of near Richland, Ransom R. Rollins, of Winona, John O. Rollins of Brownfield, Ida B. Morgan of near town, Thos. M. deceased and Samuel T. Rollins of Waynesville. Besides these children reared in the home was George R. Barlow, a grandson, and Chas. McDonald, a great nephew. There are 28 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

She professed faith in Christ when but fifteen years of age and was received into full fellowship of the Baptist church in the neighborhood where she lived and where her father was then pastor. Mrs. Rollins has lived a beautiful life, and altho her death has left a vacancy in the home and grief and sadness in the hearts of her loved ones, and while they will miss her cheerful smile and kind words of council and encouragement there is consolation in the thought that she died ripe in years and rich in experience in a life of good deeds.

She leaves an aged husband who walked by her side for 57 years sharing each other's joys and sorrows, and seven children and a host of friends to mourn the loss of a good woman.

Willie Ann (Howlett) Quesenberry 1928-2012

Willie Ann Quesenberry, daughter of Robert Reed and Grace LaMoine (Rollins) Howlett, was born April 15, 1928, in Pulaski County, in the Fairview Community. She departed this life Monday, May 28, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Lebanon, at the age of eighty-four years, one month and thirteen days.

On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to John Truman Quesenberry and to this union three daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Connie Sue and Debra Ann Quesenberry, a step great-grandson, Ashtyn Sufficool, three brothers, Rollins, Dale and Keith Howlett, and a sister, Gussie Black.

Willie is survived by her husband, Truman Quesenberry; children, Pat Hays and special friend, Dean Moore, John Quesenberry and wife, Darla, and Bill Quesenberry all of Laquey, MO; six grandchildren, Jeff Smith (Barb), Tammy Smith, Jason Smith (Kerry), Amy, Susan, and Joshua Quesenberry; five step-grandchildren, Charlotta Wallander (Nathan), Timmy Sufficool (Shayna), Tyler Sufficool (Tammy), Troy Autrey (Andrea),and Albany Hampton; nine great-grandchildren, fourteen step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Howlett and wife, Flo, of Richland, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born and raised in the Fairview area of Pulaski County and attended the Fairview School. Later attending the Richland High School and graduated with the Class of 1945. Went to Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO and received her teaching certificate. After she and Truman were married they continued to make their home here. She taught in a country school for a few years near Hazelgreen and then became a devoted wife and mother to her family. She also worked at Betty’s Café in St. Robert for a few years.

Willie had professed her faith in Christ and was a longtime faithful member of the Fairview Baptist Church. She was very involved at the church and had played the piano there for many years. She centered her life around caring for her family and her church. Her dog, Scooter, also held a very special place in her heart.

Willie was a loving wife and mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a treasured sister and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev Larry Suggs and Rev. Francis Stiles officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Beyond the Sunset”, “Suppertime” and “Serenaded By Angels”. The song “Goodbye World Goodbye” performed by the Covenant Quartet was played. Serving as escorts were Jason Smith, Nathan Wallander, Timmy Sufficool, Tyler Sufficool, Tommy Howlett and Donnie Howlett. Serving as honorary escorts were Joshua Quesenberry, Russell Howlett, Eddie Howlett, Morris Howlett, Larry Echelberry and JR Black. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery of Laquey, Missouri.

R. Warren Rollins 1927-2012

R. Warren Rollins, of Dixon, was born on April 27, 1927, on the family farm, near Dixon, a son of John Albert and Jennie Jeanett (Counts) Rollins, and departed this life at 1:55 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Warren had attained the age of 84 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Warren was united in marriage on March 15, 1948, at St. Louis, to Dale Stokes and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Everett, Charles, Bud, Johnny and an infant, Leroy; seven sisters, Addie, Mamie, Anna, Goldie, Mary, June and Alice; one son-in-law, James and with the passing of Warren, marks the end of John and Jenny’s family.

Warren was a member of the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon; a United States Army World War II veteran; an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4238 and the Washington Engineers Union No 513 for over 50 years. Warren was a dynamic part of the Dixon Fire Department having served as Captain, Assistant Fire Chief, Fire Chief, Board member, boss and friend to all who served with him. He had worked as a mechanic in construction and heavy equipment for Menafey construction from 1950 until 1970. In 1996, Warren was honored to be chosen as Citizen of the Year.

Those left to mourn the passing of Warren include: his wife, Dale Rollins of the home near Dixon; one son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Dianna Rollins, Dixon; one daughter, Jeanie Jordan, Dixon; one granddaughter and her husband, Kari and Mark Hayes, Vienna; one grandson, Michael Rollins, Rolla; two great-grandchildren, Kamryn and Carter Hayes; and many other relatives and friends.

Warren was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by his family, friends and the community.

Funeral services were conducted for Warren at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Rev. David Vanzant, pastor of the Sheppard Baptist Church, Dixon, officiating. Two special selections were sung by the Harold Rowden Review.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Warren were members of the Dixon Fire Department, Jason Shaffner, JR Sinden, Aaron Lachowicz, Josh Lachowicz, Steve Brown and Justin Matlock. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Sinden, Ken Forrest, Terry Crawford, Kennard Jackson, Vic Matlock and Ed McNeil.

Memorials are suggested to the Ozarks Honor Flight with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Mary Dewey Rollins 1898-1984

Services for Mary Dewey Rollins, 86, Dixon, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Martin Chapel in Dixon with the Rev. Charles L. Pitts officiating.  Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery.

Mrs. Rollins died at 9 a.m. Monday in her home after a brief illness.

A housewife, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Dixon.

Survivors include seven sons, Oland, Allen, Buell, William Joe, and Gary, all of Dixon, Forrest, Denton, Texas and Myrl, Iberia; four daughters, Mrs. Pauline Stokes, Mrs. Eileen Withers, and Mrs. Darlene Hayes, all of Dixon, and Mrs. Maxine Lee, St. Louis; 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ in Dixon.

Claude Henry Morgan 1903-1990

Claude Henry Morgan began life on April 11, 1903, the seventh of eight children born to John B. and Ida (Rollins)Morgan. He died September 25, 1990, at the age of 87, having survived all of his siblings. He was born on the Morgan family farm on the Roubidoux Creek south of Waynesville, and he spent his entire life in Pulaski County, with the exception of brief periods attending school in Springfield.

He married Irene Mitchell on October 9, 1931, and they took up residence on South Benton Street in Waynesville.

Claude and Irene had one child, William C. Morgan, and one grandchild, Julie K. K. Morgan. In addition to his wife, son, daughter-in-law Louise Morgan and grandchild, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

During his lifetime he took an active interest in community and political affairs in Pulaski County, and served two terms as a member of the Board of Education of the Waynesville School District.

Although Claude always considered himself to be first and foremost a farmer, he spent most of his adult life engaged in various occupations in Waynesville. He served as a Deputy Circuit Clerk and Recorder for Pulaski County and was a property and casualty insurance agent for over fifty years.

Beginning in the middle 1960's, he and his brother Joe N. Morgan acquired the Pulaski County Abstract Company. Claude managed that business until his son became manager in 1968. Thereafter he continued to be active in the business as well as on the farm.

He suffered the first of several strokes in 1985 and became increasingly impaired until he was admitted to Sunset Village in February 1988, where he remained until his death.

Funeral services were held Thursday September 27, 1990, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Reverend Richard Breeden officiating. A eulogy was given by William C. Morgan. Music was provided by organist Jean Ely and soloist Charles Folkert. Serving as escorts were Art Anderson, Jim Laughlin, Keith Prichard, Sr., Tom Tinsley, and Greg Warren. Honorary escorts were Norman Humphrey, G. W. Lane, Joe Miller, and C. W. Parker.

Burial was in the Morgan Family Cemetery, Pulaski County MO. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

A memorial has been established to the Masonic Lodge 375 AF&AM New Building Fund in memory of Claude Morgan.

John Wade Rollins 1928-2010

John Wade Rollins, 81 of Blytheville, AR passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR.

Mr. Rollins is survived by two daughters: Annette Barfoot of Dublin, GA; and Pamela Meyer of Prairie Grove, AR; three sons: John Rollins II of Sunray, TX; Travis Rollins of Chicago, IL; and Dempsey Rollins of Jonesboro, AR; two step-children, Dian Logan of Ft. Worth, TX, and Martha Miller of Blytheville, AR; one brother: Leo Rollins of Redwood City, CA; two sisters: Donna Robertson of Kansas City, MO, and Mary Belle Frye of Eufala, AL; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 18, 2010, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Rev. Christopher Hendrix, Sr. officiating. Music selections included "Peace In The Valley" and "Beulah Land". Serving as escorts were the U.S. Army from Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

Burial with Military Honors followed in the Rollins Cemetery, Laquey, MO. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.

Agnes Lucille Pearson Mumford 1910-1985

Agnes Lucille Pearson Mumford was born February 19, 1910 at Bellefonte, Missouri, the daughter of Francis C. and Stella Rollins Pearson. She passed away January 26, 1985 at the Pulaski County Memorial Hospital in Waynesville, Missouri having attained the age of 74 years.

She accepted Christ at an early age at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville where she is still a member.

She was united in marriage to Joe D. Mumford on March 12, 1932 in Lebanon, Missouri. He passed away June 12, 1979.

Agnes attended school in the Waynesville Public Schools and she also attended college at SMSU in Springfield and got her teaching degree from the Northeastern State Teachers College in Tallaquah, Oklahoma. She taught school in Oklahoma and in Pulaski County, Missouri.

Agnes was a member of the Hanson Chapter Eastern Star.

Agnes Lucille Pearson Mumford is survived by her mother, Mrs. Stella Pearson of Waynesville, Missouri; her sisters, Myrtle Gladden of Laquey, Missouri, Louise McDougald of Lubbock, Texas, Grace Langford of Memphis, Tennessee and Peggy McKinzie of Richland, Missouri; her brothers, Ted Pearson of Burton, Kansas and John Pearson of Collinsville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father Francis C. Pearson and her sister Mable Crumley.

Funeral services for Agnes Lucille Mumford were held Monday, January 28, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Othal Hodson officiating.

Music was provided by soloist Iva Mae Case accompanied by Marjorie Link playing the organ.

Pallbearers were: Martin Barlow, Robert Barton, Ivan Bowling, Robert Elam, Charles Harris, and Dale Howlett.

Burial was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Grace LaMoine (Rollins)Howlett 1894-1984

Grace LaMoine Howlett, daughter of John and Willie Ann Johnson Rollins, was born in Pulaski County on December 20, 1894 and departed this life December 30, 1984 in Richland, Missouri, at the age of 90 years and 10 days.

Grace was united in marriage with Reed Howlett November 18, 1916 and to this union was born four sons and two daughters, all surviving.

She made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 11 and was baptized and attended church at the Prospect School. Later she moved her membership to the Fairview Church where she was a member for many years. At the time of her death Grace was a member of Berean Baptist Church. She was active in her church and her community and was a lovely Christian lady who was devoted to her family.

Those surviving are her husband Reed of the home; four sons, Rollins, Dale, and Kenneth, all of Richland, and Keith of Montreal; two daughters Willie Ann Quesenberry and Gussie Black, both of Richland; one brother, Sterling Rollins, of the State of Maryland; two sisters, Stella Pearson and Eula Burchard, both of Waynesville; 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; also other relatives and friends.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Jim, Tom, and John Rollins, one granddaughter, Connie Sue Quesenberry, two great granddaughters, Susan and Sharon Keeney, and one great grandson, Larry Lloyd Gan.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 1985 from the Colonial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Raymond McClary, Rev. Larry Burke and Rev. Ed Hamilton officiating. Music was by Gilbert Crismon, soloist and DeLores Shadel, organist. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Escorts were her grandsons.

John Larry Rollins 1936-2009

John Larry Rollins, of rural Dixon, was born on February 1, 1936, at Dixon, a son of John Albert and Jennie Jeanette (Counts) Rollins, and departed this life at 1:10 a.m., Sunday, May 3, 2009, at his daughter’s residence near Dixon. Mr. Rollins had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 73 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Mr. Rollins was united in marriage on April 7, 1956, at Waynesville to Sally VanOstran who preceded him in death on December 19, 2003. In addition to his wife, Mr. Rollins was preceded in death by one son, Donald Warren Rollins on April 16, 1991; his father on February 12, 1962; his mother on January 23, 1964; two great grandchildren, William Joseph and Jonathan Wayne Steadman; one son-in-law, Gene Backues on February 28, 2002; four brothers, Lawrence “Bud” Veasman; Leroy Rollins; Everett Rollins; and Charles Veasman, Jr.; six sisters, Alice Lorenz; June Morgan; Mamie Martin; Anna Rollins; Goldie Collison; and Alma McGuillicuddy; and one brother-in-law, Tom Harkins.

Mr. Rollins was a member of the Victory Hill Baptist Church, near Dixon; was a lifelong board member of the Wheeler Cemetery and had won many awards for his favorite pastime, jig dancing. Mr. Rollins was a lifelong farmer in Maries County.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Rollins include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John Wayne and Denise Rollins, Dixon; John Lawrence and Nicole Rollins, Jefferson City; four daughters and one son-in-law, Sherry Dale and Kevin Rowden, Meta; Deborah K. Backues, Vienna; Betty Juergens Rollins, Brinktown; and Donna Gay Rollins, Vienna; one brother, Warren Rollins, Dixon; one sister, Mary Harkins, Dixon; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Rollins at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, May 6, 2009, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with Rev. Dennis Nichols, pastor Victory Hill Baptist Church, officiating. “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Far Side Banks Of Jordan”, “I Want To Waltz Across Heaven With You” and “I Will Always Love You” were played for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mr. Rollins were John Wayne Rollins, John L. Rollins, Randy Shelton, Mike Juergens, Jason Rollins and Joey Backues. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Juergens, Danny Rollins, Rob Schulte, Justin Rollins, Vince Vulstekye, Jason Vulstekye, Travis Rowden and Blake Rowden.

John C. Rollins, Pioneer Citizen, Businessman, Died Monday Morning
Funeral Services Held Yesterday

An overflowing crowd was present yesterday afternoon at the Waynesville Baptist Church to pay last respects to one of Pulaski County’s leading citizens. John C. Rollins, who passed away at the Waynesville General Hospital early Monday morning.

Mr. Rollins, who was nearly 87 years of age, had suffered a heart attack on Friday of last week and was taken to the hospital here.

John C. Rollins, who was a member of a Pulaski County family, was born on a farm about twelve miles west of this city, in the Bellefonte neighborhood. In 1916 Mr. Rollins moved to Waynesville and purchased the Hardware store from Mr. Christeson. He operated the store for thirty years.

Mr. Rollins, who had long been active in the Baptist Church, was a senior deacon in the church here at the time of his death. Only last week this newspaper published an article written by Mr. Rollins about the Baptist Church History in this area.

Mr. Rollins was a familiar figure in this city, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. When he and his family moved to Waynesville, they moved to the home in the northeast corner of the square and on pleasant evenings Mr. Rollins could be sitting out in his yard visiting with his many friends who stopped to chat a while with this beloved gentleman.

The Democrat joins with a host of other friends in expressing our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Following is the obituary for Mr. Rollins:

John C. Rollins, son of James M. and Sarah J. Rollins was born at Bellefonte, Missouri, November 24, 1869 and passed away at the Waynesville General Hospital on September 3, 1956 at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 10 days.

On November 24,1889 he was united in marriage to William Ann Johnson and to this union seven children were born. At the age of 15 years he professed his faith in Christ and in 1916 transferred his membership to the Waynesville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rollins passed away January 2, 1953.

He leaves to mourn his passing three daughters, Stella Pearson and Eula Burchard of Waynesville and Grace Howlett of Laquey, Missouri. Four sons, James D. of Laquey, Thomas B. of Gary, Indiana, John W. of Springfield, Missouri, and Sterling J. of Waynesville, also 22 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 5, 1956 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waynesville Baptist Church with the Reverend B.R. Tatum officiating.

Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Waynesville.

Cora Dale (Rollins) Sherrell 1925-2009

Cora Dale Sherrell, of Dixon, was born on January 6, 1925, at Dixon, a daughter of William T. and Cora (Groves) Rollins, and departed this life at 8:50 a.m., Monday morning, May 11, 2009, at her daughter’s residence near Dixon. Mrs. Sherrell had been in failing health and had attained the age of 84 years, 4 months and 5 days.

Mrs. Sherrell was united in marriage in March 1941, at Dixon, to Charlie Lester Sherrell and to this union six children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; her parents; five brothers, infant Leonard Rollins; Dave Rollins; Eugene Rollins; Shelby Rollins; and William Rollins; five sisters, Gertrude Norris; Cecil Eads; Ursie Prewett; Margaret Rozella; and Erma Durtschi; and one son-in-law, Donald Campbell.

Mrs. Sherrell was a member of the Santee Community Church, Dixon and retired from Brown Shoe Company, Dixon, where she had worked as a top stitcher. She was a volunteer for the Dixon Senior Center and enjoyed sewing and quilting.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Sherrell include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Pauline Sherrell; Roger and Mary Sherrell and Samuel and Sandra Sherrell, all of Dixon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Campbell, Dixon; Idena and Ronald Hale, Belle; and Connie and Michael Morgan, Dixon; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Sherrell at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, May 13, 2009 in the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Day, Hancock Christian Church, Dixon and Bro. Shawn Davis, DeSoto, officiating. Two favorite hymns were sung by Becky Smith.

Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery, under the direction of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Sherrell were Matthew Campbell, Carless Campbell, Jimmy Sherrell, Jeremy Robertson, Mike Tracy and James Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Travis Hauck, Bernie Niedert and Christopher Smith.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Freedom Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon.
