Barbara E. (Williams) Portell 1919-1986

Barbara E. Portell was born in Bloodland, Missouri on January 23, 1919.  She was the daughter of William L. and Francis (Harmon) Williams.  She departed this life May 25, 1986 after attaining the age of 67 years, four months, and two days.

Barbara was an LPN and had served in the hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and other areas during her working years.  She enjoyed helping people very much.

Barbara had resided in the Pulaski County area for the last few years.

Those left to mourn are her husband, James, of rural Richland, Missouri; one son, LeRoy Ragan and daughter-in-law, Dixie of Sullivan, Missouri; two brothers: Dolph Williams of Dixon, Missouri; and Claude Williams of the State of Illinois; two sisters: Alma Holtsclaw of the State of Florida, and Essie Gaddy of Dixon, Missouri; four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; friends and relatives.

Barbara will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, May 27, 1986 after 4:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel with Rev. Othal L. Hodson officiating.

Music was provided by organist Dorothy Moore.

Escorts were: Frank Gaddy, Huber Gaddy, Robert Huffman, Buddy Scott, James Williams, and “Pud” Nye.

Interment was in the Hazelgreen Cemetery in Laclede County, Missouri under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
