James Monroe Shelton 1917-1986

James Monroe Shelton was born in Maries County, Missouri on November 11, 1917 the son of James Franklin and Alma Bailey Shelton and passed away on May 12, 1986.  He had attained the age of 68 years.

He is survived by his mother, Alma Shelton of Dixon, 3 sisters, Lorene Gaylord of St. Peters, Caroline Alexander of Dixon and Yvonne Sloan of Shell Knob, Missouri, 1 brother Tom Shelton of Dixon with numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his Father, James Franklin Shelton.

James served his country in the Navy, Army, and Air Force with several years of foreign duty.  He was a loving and devoted son to his Mother and Father.  He has been very helpful and supportive in the care of his Mother who is in the Heritage Park Nursing Home in Rolla.  He graduated with a B.S. degree from the Wichita University and for the last 15 years was the Finance Manager at the Diehl Montgomery Car Agency in Rolla.

Funeral services were held in the Long Funeral Home in Dixon on Wednesday, May 14, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Charles Pitts and Brother Earl Jones officiating.

Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jim Sloan, Buel Alexander, Justin Shelton, Bill and Harold Switzer and Jack Alexander.  Honorary pallbearers were Sonny Potter, Steve and Vernon Shelton, Ronnie Sloan and Hurschall Alexander.
