John Phillip Wolff, son of the late Edwin Donald and Mary Louise (Norman) Wolff, was born November 24, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan and went home to be with his Lord at 6:15 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at his home having attained the age of 67 years.
John grew up in Detroit and as a young boy, he became an Eagle Scout. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Marines. After six years with the Marines, John was honorably discharged in 1966. He then went to work for Ford Motor Company in Detroit.
While in Detroit, John met Delores Katherine Horger. They were united in marriage in 1970 and were blessed with five children: Jeffrey, Gina, Tina, Mary, and Katherine. They lived most of their married life in Buckhorn/Laquey area. Delores preceded John in death on January 30, 1996.
After leaving Ford Motor Company in 1970, John enlisted in the United States Army and eventually spent five years at Fort Leonard Wood serving as AWOL Apprehension Military Police and was discharged in 1978.
In 1980, John served as Assistant Chief of the Waynesville Rural Fire Department John also began working at the Department of Corrections in Jefferson City and worked there for 25 years until his retirement in 2005.
While working in Jefferson City, John met Suren Scarlett Isedevdorg. They were united in marriage in 2003 in Waynesville.
In his spare time, John enjoyed woodcutting. Most importantly, he loved the times that he could spend with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
John leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Suren; five children: Jeffrey Wolff (Diane) of Richland, Gina Wolff of Cathlamet, Washington, Tina Wolff of Oscoda, Michigan, Mary Wolff of Waynesville and Katherine Wolff of Louisville, Kentucky; two step sons: Nyambayar and Enkhbayar Bayandelger; five siblings: Bill and Richard Wolff both of Detroit, Michigan, Patrick Wolff of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Wolff of Saginaw, Michigan and Margaret Peltier of Mt. Clemons, Michigan; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and Delores, John was preceded in death by two brothers: Edwin and James and one sister: Mary Lou (Molly) Wolff.
Funeral services with military honors were held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Memorial Chapels and Crematory with Father John Groner officiating. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post #2025 of Rolla, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.
