Melvin David Dochterman 1935-2010

Melvin David Dochterman, of Crocker, was born on July 3, 1935, in Roxanna, Illinois a son of Mervin Edward and Irma Adel (Jones) Dochterman and departed this life at 10:34 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2010, in the Cox South Hospital, Springfield. Mr. Dochterman had attained the age of 74 years, 6 months and 25 days.
 
Mr. Dochterman was united in marriage on May 11, 1977 at Jefferson City to Diane Marie Stover. His parents and one sister Mary Joyce Mullen preceded him in death.
 
Mr. Dochterman served eight years in the United States Marines. He had worked as a machinist for over 40 years for Link Belt Speeder-FMC and Trico as a general manager. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.
 
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Dochterman include: his wife, Diane Dochterman, Crocker; two sons and daughters-in-law, David Virgil and Leah Dochterman, Crocker and Mark Scott and Tammy Dochterman, Jefferson City; three step sons and their wives, Mike and Tracey Smith; Dean and Sandra Smith; and Chad and Michelle Smith, all of Crocker; two brothers, Mervin Hugh Dochterman, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Dennis K. Dochterman, Denver, Colorado; one sister, Norma Adel Hoge, Denver, Colorado; ten grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Andrew, Courtney, Brandon, Rachel, Jacob, Jayson, Mikayla and Mirissa; one great-grandchild, Trevor and one on the way; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Dochterman at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Crocker Chapel of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home with Rev. Don Kabel, First Baptist Church and Mark Dochterman officiating. Special music was by Jimmy Moore. 
 
Interment was in the Antioch Cemetery, near Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Dochterman were Aaron Dochterman, Jayson Smith, Brandon Smith, Jacob Smith, Leon Layman and Glen Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Dochterman and Randy Barillaro.
