Michael Paul “Pop” Black 1945-2010

Michael Paul “Pop” Black, of Dixon, was born on October 7, 1945, at Bunker, a son of William and Ollie (Watson) Black, and departed this life at 12:37 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. Mr. Black had attained the age of 64 years, 2 months and 25 days.
 
Mr. Black was united in marriage on November 1, 1983, at Dixon to Sharon Kay Swiney. He was preceded in death by his father in 1968; his mother in 1988; one son, Brian Burnham in 1999 and one daughter, Marilyn Burnham in 2006.
 
Mr. Black was a self-employed mechanic for several years, retiring in 1975 to spend time caring for his wife and family whom he loved dearly.
 
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Black include: his wife, Sharon Black, of the home in rural Dixon; two daughters, Angela Black, Dixon and Heather Burnham, St. James; one brother, Winford Black, Bunker; six grandchildren, David Allen Duff, Jr., Brian Wesley Duff, April Michelle Macormic, Angel Nicole Macormic, Kyla Danielle Macormic and Dennis Lee Rowell; two great-grandchildren, Shania Duff and Brian Wesley Duff, Jr.; and many other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Black at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon with Pastor Elmer Turnbough, Cuba, officiating. Three favorite selections were played for the service.
 
Graveside services and interment was in the Greeley Cemetery, Bunker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Black were Lee Gann, Dennis Piersall, Kenny Swiney, Mel Nulph, Winford Black and Eddie Miller.
 
          Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
