On January 29, 1988, Mildred Christeson Hoops died at Sunset Village of the Ozarks in Waynesville, Missouri. Mrs. Hoops, 87, was the only remaining member of her generation of the Hoops family in Crocker, Missouri.

Born July 14, 1900, in Waynesville to francis J. and Lulu Hutcheson Christeson, Mrs. Hoops (affectionately called “Mim”), following education in Waynesville, St. Louis, and Springfield, was married to Paul Brown Hoops of Crocker, where they and their two daughters lived until 1940, when they moved to Waynesville. For many years Mrs. Hoops assisted in their business, J.L. Hoops and sons of Crocker. Mr. Hoops died in 1963.

She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Having been a member of both the Waynesville Methodist Church and the Crocker Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Hoops is remembered as a dedicated Sunday School teacher and leader of young people, for her leadership in the Women’s Association, and for her contributions to the music of the church as a pianist and member of the choir where she was a frequent soloist. Her love for music extended also to the Oratorio Society of Fort Leonard Wood.

In 1975 Mrs. Hoops moved to Sunset Village of the Ozarks where she shared pleasant living with her sister, Mrs. Howard B. Wyrick (Grace), who survives her. In addition, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roy H. McGregor (Joanne) of Wichita, Kansas, and Mrs. Thomas R. Jones (Vivian) of Falls Church, Virginia, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Arrangements were handled by the Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

The family suggest memorials may be made to the Sunset Village of the Ozarks in the name of Mildred C. Hoops.
