Thomas Ray York 1937-1988

Thomas Ray York, son of Thomas and Freda Campbell York, was born June 22, 1937 in Bloodland, Missouri, and departed this life February 7, 1988, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri at the age of 55 years, seven months and 16 days.

He was united in marriage with Charlotte Whittle on December 19, 1961 and has spent most of his life in this area.

He professed his faith in Jesus Christ as a young man. Later in life he surrendered to preach and serve his Lord faithfully for nearly 20 years. Although New Friendship Baptist Church was his home church, he has preached throughout Pulaski County and surrounding counties.

He and his son also owned and operated Yorks Auto Works for a number of years.

Funeral services were held from the Colonial Funeral Chapel at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb 9, 1988 with Lee Todd, Minister officiating. Burial was in Idumea Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers were Donald Wieners, Sr., Dale Shetler, Bill Smith, Darold Wierners, Jr., Kenneth Bragg and Richard Tingle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte; one son Kenny York of Waynesville; his parents, Thomas and Freda York of Waynesville; one brother, Lawrence York of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Beverly Elliott of Waynesville; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant sister.
