David Neil Vaughan 1953-2012

David Neil Vaughan, of Dixon, was born on May 29, 1953, at St. Louis, a son of Richard Paul and Bessie Mae (Briscoe) Vaughan, and departed this life at 3:50 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2012, in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. David had attained the age of 58 years, 11 months and 22 days.

David was united in marriage on December 31, 1976, at Dixon, to Margaret Joyce Haley and to this union, two children were born.

He was preceded in death by his father on October 30, 2001; his mother on November 19, 2003; two brothers, Richard L. “Dick” Vaughan on August 23, 2005 and Thomas Charles Vaughan on February 20, 2011 and one sister, Diana Bull on April 15, 2003.

 David was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church in Dixon and the St Louis Carpenters Union. He had worked as a project manager for Curtiss-Manes-Schulte, Inc Construction Company, Eldon. David enjoyed being with his family and watching basketball games.

Those left to mourn the passing of David include: his wife, Margaret Vaughan, Dixon; one son David Alan Vaughan and his fiancé, Stephanie Bruce, Dixon; one daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Quentin Byrd, Brumley and Hunter Yoakum, Dixon; three grandchildren, Reagan Vaughan, Weston Byrd and Whitney Byrd; three step-grandchildren, Hailey, Britney and Trinity; one brother, Robert Vaughan, Buffalo, New York; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for David at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Bro. Frank McGuire, Mt. Gilead Church, Dixon officiating. Three selections of “The Old Rugged Cross”, “I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were played for the service.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for David were Lance McKinnon, Zach Shepherd, Michael Lumpkin, Jerry Lee Baker, Adam Shelton and Joe Holtsclaw.

Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
