George Allen Failing 1945-2011

George Allen Failing, of Crocker was born on February 1, 1945, at San Antonio, Texas, a son of Frank and Mildred (Cort) Failing, and departed this life at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the University Hospital and Clinics, Columbia. Mr. Failing had attained the age of 66 years and 10 months. 

Mr. Failing proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring on December 31, 1989, after 20 years of service. Mr. Failing then went to work for the State of Missouri at the Department of Corrections where he was a corrections officer 1 and later was promoted to a correction officer 2. While working for Department of Corrections he also graduated from Drury College with a degree in criminal justice. He was later employed with the State of Missouri Probation and Parole as a Probation and Parole officer. He retired from the State of Missouri and started living life to the fullest and enjoying spending time with his three granddaughters and other family and friends.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Failing include: two daughters and one son-in-law; Stephanie and Jason Wiorek and Heather Lynn Failing, all of Crocker; three granddaughters; Courtney Wiorek; Emily and Kimberly Pyle, Crocker; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frank Failing, Chicago, Illinois.; Hugh and Pamela Failing, Chattanooga, Tennessee; and Richard and June Failing , Bainbridge, Georgia; two nieces; Shelby Failing Howell, Decater, Georgia; Kimberly Clayton , Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; two nephews; Christopher Failing, Savannah, Georgia; and Brent Totten, San Francisco, California; dear friends, D.T. and Bunnie Trimm, Stoutland; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Failing at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Larry Richardson, Crocker Christian Church, officiating. Special selections of “Forever In Love”, “Go Rest high On That Mountain”, “If Heaven”, “Amazing Grace” and “Daddy’s Hands” were played for the service.

Inurnment with full military honors was at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 9, 2011, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Fort Leonard Wood, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Failing were Cort Failing, Hugh Failing, Kent Failing, DT Trimm, Jim Kosanke and Jason Wiorek.
