Mary Kathryn (Gladbach) Beyer 1935-2004

Mary Kathryn Beyer, daughter of the late Edward Francis and Anna Agnes (Sturm) Gladbach, was born October 29, 1935 in Dalton, Missouri.

Mary grew up in the Dalton community, and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1953.

On October 18, 1958, Mary was united in marriage with the late Wilfred James Beyer in Butler, Missouri. This union was blessed with a daughter, Debra and a son, James.

Mary worked for Certainteed Manufacturing in Kansas City, Kansas and Wichita Falls, Texas for over 24 years. For many of those years, she was employed as the company's customer service manager.

In the early 1990's, Mary moved to the Waynesville area to live with her daughter Debra and her family. She moved her membership to the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, and was also a member of AARP. She did beautiful needlework, enjoyed photography and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

After a long, difficult illness, Mary went home to be with her Lord the morning of October 8, 2004 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 10 days.

She was dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by her daughter: Debra Walker and her husband, Bill of Waynesville; her son, Jim Beyer and his wife, Angela of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister: Judy Stringer of Livingston, Texas; one brother: Edward G. "Jerry" Gladbach and his wife, Donna of Valencia, California; five grandchildren: Kristen, Aaron and Joseph Walker and Cora and Ean Beyer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 11, 2004 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father Sam Sturm, Father John Groner, Father Don Breaker and Father Greg Beyer, OFM officiating. John Cobb and Aaron Walker assisted in the service as servers. Mary Kathryn's son, Jim Beyer gave a beautiful and loving eulogy. Kristen Walker led the congregation in singing as she was accompanied by flutist Krystal Heib and organists Judy Stringer and Evelyn Horine. Serving as escorts were Tony Beyer, George Heib, Eric Gladbach and Rick Vise. Serving as honorary escorts were George Cobb, Stacey Sturm and Toby Sturm.

A graveside service was held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 12, 2004 in the St. Raphael's Catholic Church Cemetery in Indian Grove, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Mary Kathryn Beyer to the donor's choice and may be left at the funeral home.
