Jacqueline Dayle (Urbas) Stephens 1938-2004

Jacqueline Dayle Stephens, one of three children born to the late Frank John and Alene Marion (Hughes) Urbas, was born February 6, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Jacque attended St. Patrick's and St. Florien's elementary schools in Milwaukee, then went to junior high at St. Peters in Oshkosh. Her family then moved to Wilmington, California where she attended Banning High School.

When she moved to California, Jacque met Orval Wayne "Bo" Stephens. On March 13, 1954, they were married in Ensenada, Mexico. Later that year on December 17, they had a church wedding in the Catholic Church in Lomita, California. Jacque and Bo were blessed with three sons, Jeffry Wayne, Jayme Lane and Joseph Blane, and nine grandchildren, Jeffry II, Jinger, Jesse, Janine, Jennifer, Jayson, Jody, Jill and Jake.

When Jacque was young, she had quite a singing career in T.V. and radio. She later worked as a marketing manager for Phone-Mate, Inc.

In 1978, the Stephens family moved to Richland, Missouri. A few years later, they began raising dogs but soon got out of the business, for their love of the puppies made it very difficult for them to let go... a decision made after their keeping their fifth house dog. Soon after, they opened Jacque's Cafe on Chestnut Street, where Jacque was head chef. In addition to being a wonderful cook, Jacque loved to play the guitar, sing, listen to music, decorate, hunt for collectables and play Bridge. She was a talented artist, and served for two years as president of the local art club.

Jacque went home to be with her Lord the evening of June 29, 2004 at her home in Richland, Missouri, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 23 days.

She was dearly loved, and will be very sadly missed by her husband Orval "Bo" of the home; three sons: Jeffry Wayne Stephens of Richland, MO, Jayme Lane Stephens and his wife, Shannon of Dixon, MO, and Joseph Blane Stephens and his wife, Sherri of Stoutland, MO; nine grandchildren: Jeffry II, Jinger, Jesse, Janine, Jennifer, Jayson, Jody, Jill and Jake along with several other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jacque was also preceded in death by her brother: Frank Urbas, Jr. and her sister: Frances Mary DeWeese.

A Prayer Service was held at 7:30 PM Thursday, July 1, 2004, in the Richland Memorial Chapel with Father John Groner conducting the service.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 2, 2004, in the Richland Memorial Chapel with Father John Groner officiating. The songs "One Day At A Time", "Silver Wings", and "I Hope You Dance" were played. Jacque's son Jayme sang "Remember When" and her son, Jeff sang "Back Home Again". Family friend, Matt Mills gave a beautiful eulogy. Serving as escorts were Jeffry W. Stephens, Jayme L. Stephens, Joseph B. Stephens, Jayson L. Stephens, Pete McCallister and Matt R. Mills. Serving as an honorary escort was Kenneth Urbas.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Richland Memorial Chapel.
