Carl Eugene Cantrell 1923-1981

Carl Eugene Cantrell of Crocker, Missouri was born on January 22, 1923 in Niangua, Missouri; the son of Leroy and Zula Cantrell and departed this life on June 1, 1981 at the V.A. Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.  He had attained the age of 58 years, 4 months, and 10 days.

Carl was united in marriage to Joy Slawson on July 8, 1948 and unto this union 4 children were born.

He was a member of the Pulaski County Shrine Club, Arlington AM & FM Lodge 346 of Dixon, Missouri, he served several terms on the City Council at Crocker, Missouri, served on the board for the Rural Water District, and was a member of the Christian Church of Niangua,Missouri.

Carl is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home, 1 daughter: Cathy, Crocker, Missouri; 3 sons: Stanley, Crocker, Missouri; Robin, stationed in Tennesse with the United States Navy; Stephen, stationed in Los Angeles, California with the United States Navy; 6 grandchildren: Melissa Plemmons, Christopher Plemmons, Heather Rowden, Consuelo Cantrell, Michelle Cantrell, and Christian Cantrell, 1 brother; Don Cantrell, West Covina, California; 3 sisters: Karline Proserpi, Springfield, Missouri; Kathleen DePace, Diamond Bar, California; and Ann Gosinski, Pfafftown, North Carolina.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 4, 1981 at the First Christian Church of Crocker at 2 p.m. with Rev. Merwyn McMillan officiating.

Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Moss-Williams Funeral Home.

Masonic services were held on Wednesday, June 3, 1981 at 7 p.m. at the Long-Moss-Williams Funeral Home in Crocker.

Pallbearers were:  Larry Salveter, Leon Layman, Bill Howell, Eddie Lively, Darrell Kubinski, and Bobby Houser.

Organist was Mrs. Gladys Schneider and Soloist was Mrs. Betty Layman.
