Michael Ferman Raines 1961-2011

Michael Ferman Raines, was born October 27, 1961 at Fort Leonard Wood to Ferman “Pappy” Raines and Eva (Huff) Raines. He passed away Friday December 1, 2011 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital of Fort Leonard Wood.

Michael was united in marriage to Carmen Waltz on November 8, 1981 and they were blessed with two children: Anthony Lee and Sabrina May.

Michael had a passion for working on automobiles and had the ability to repair them. He was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed BBQ and sharing it with his family and friends. He loved spending time at the park and the river with his family and friends.

As a young teenager, Michael accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church.

Michael will be sadly missed by fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory two children: Sabrina Calloway of Cheyenne, WY and Anthony Raines of Midway, GA and their mother Carmen DeBerry; 4 siblings: Marilyn K. Troutman of Waynesville, MO, Judy K. Bates of Augusta, GA, Paul R. Bates and his wife Rita of Buckhorn, MO and Gary W. Bates and his wife Deloris of Richland, MO; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Pappy and Eva Raines, one brother Butch Bates and one nephew Shawn Bates.

Michael was a very giving person and even through his death he gave the gift of his eyes so someone else would be able to see.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Danny Graves and Rev. Benito Perez officiating. The songs “Arms Wide Open” by Creed, “Outside” by Everspinning Real and “The Best in Me” by Marvin Sapp was played. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “How Great is our God”. Serving as escorts were Sabrina Calloway, Gary and Paul Bates, Benito Perez, Brent Hayes and John Hammock.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Michael Raines and may be left at the funeral home.
