Georgia Ann (Adkins) Scott 1916-1981

Georgia Ann Scott, of Dixon, was born on November 30, 1916, near Meta, Missouri, a daughter of James Lewis and Effie Belle Martin Adkins, and departed this life on Saturday afternoon, May 9, 1981, at the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital, Columbia, following an illness of three months.  Mrs. Scott had attained the age of 64 years, 5 months and 10 days.

Mrs. Scott was united in marriage on June 14, 1937, near Meta, to Ona Bruce Scott,and to this union, two children were born.  Mr. Scott preceded his wife in death on October 2, 1965.  Mrs. Scott was also preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Adkins.

Mrs. Scott was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Scott include: One son, Kenneth Scott, Jefferson City; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Norwood, Dixon; one brother, Ray Adkins, Meta; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Christian, Ashland, and Mrs. Ruby Bryant, Iberia; two grandchildren, Darren Norwood and Donetta Moore, both of Dixon; and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Scott was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother, and will indeed be sadly missed by her dear family and all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Scott at 2:00 p.m., on Monday afternoon, May 11, 1981 at the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with the Rev. Clarence Smith, Dixon United Methodist Church, officiating.  “Beyond the Sunset” and “Amazing Grace” were sung for the funeral service.

Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.  Pallbearers for Mrs. Scott were Roy Doyle, Jerry Braun, Scott Paterson, Lonnie ___, Mark Jones, and Todd Holman.
