Beauford Clark 1930-2004

Beauford Clark, son of the late Lester and Ruby (King) Clark was born February 5, 1930 near Hazelgreen, Missouri.

Beauford attended the old one room Bellfonte schoolhouse. He graduated form Waynesville High School in 1948. After high school Beauford worked at various jobs including driving a taxi cab with his brother, Walter.

In 1950 Beauford was drafted into the United States Army. He served during the Korean Conflict. Beauford was awarded various medals and commendations for stellar service and bravery.

After returning from War, Beauford was united in marriage on July 29, 1962 to Betty Jean Manning. Together they shared six children and over 41 years of marriage.

Beauford worked as a civil service mechanic for over 30 years. He began his second career as a school bus driver for the Waynesville R-VI School District in 1990. He took great pride in transporting children to school and various other activities. He loved kids and they loved and respected him.

When Beauford wasn't working you could see him about town. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the coffee shop or just tinkering with his 67 Chevy pick-up and 53 Ford tractor. He was blessed with the ability to fix or repair most anything.

Beauford departed this life at 10:15 PM Friday, May 21, 2004 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 73 years.

He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two daughters: Debbie Pendleton and her husband Keith of Waynesville and Lori Kampen and her husband John of Endeavor, Wisconsin; two sons: Larry Clark and his wife Michelle of Clever and Mike Clark of Dixon; two brothers: Walter Clark of Waynesville and Donald Clark of Lebanon; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, several other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Beauford was preceded in death by two sons: Greg and Danny; one sister, Neva Williams and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 24, 2004 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Precious Memories" and "How Great Thou Art". The song "Wind Beneath My Wings" was played. The American Legion Post 240 presented a certificate to the family in appreciation of Beauford's faithful service to his country. Serving as escorts were Joshua Clark, Larry Clark, Tyler Clark, John Kampen and Keith Pendleton.

Burial with military honors followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the United States Army, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Beauford Clark to the Waynesville R-VI Scholarship Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
