Mary K. Jean (Buscarini) McCoy 1923-2007

Mary K. Jean McCoy departed this life the evening of May 29, 2007 in St. Johns Breech Regional Medical Center, Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 3 days.


She was born August 26, 1923 in Raton, New Mexico. She was one of five children born to the union of the late Virgil and Della M. (Tomasi) Buscarini. Mary was baptized and confirmed in the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Raton.


Mary attended primary school at St. Patricks and was a 1940 graduate of Raton High School. After graduation, Mary traveled to El Paso, Texas where she earned her nursing degree.


During WWII, she served as a U.S. Army nurse aboard a naval ship, receiving the rank of Second Lieutenant.


While working at a hospital in Seattle, Washington, Mary met Robert G. McCoy. Mary and Bob were married on May 20, 1947 at Ft. Lawton, and shared 60 years of memories together.


Bobs tours of duty sent the McCoys to live in Okinawa, Japan, Turkey and several posts in the U.S. Mary and Bob settled in Richland, Missouri on a farm they loved so dearly. Having acreage allowed Mary to feed all of Gods creatures, such as raccoons, deer, birds and even a skunk. These animals were in addition to their dogs and cats. Mary and Bob also enjoyed their home at the Lake of the Ozarks.


Mary enjoyed traveling, riding horses and working in her flower garden. She had a beautiful singing voice and sang in a choir in high school. She also enjoyed playing golf at the Richland and Dixon Country Clubs.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: Bob of the home; three sisters: Florence Jones and husband, Lorin of Aztec, NM; Aldena Valentine of Needles, CA; and Shirley Pate and husband, Jesse of Anthem, AZ; one brother: Virgil E. Buscarini and wife, Virginia of Raton, NM; several nieces, nephews, very special family friend: Ann Murray of Richland and other relatives and dear friends.


In addition to her parents, Mary was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law: Charlie Valentine.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, June 3, 2007 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Father John Groner officiating. Mrs. Ruth Feldmeier assisted Father Groner with the Scripture readings. The song Wind Beneath My Wings was played. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery of Coshocton, Ohio. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
