Cedar Hill Cemetery is located in Pulaski County, MO., on the Fort Leonard Wood military reservation. The cemetery was moved here from it’s original location in 1942. It's original location is unknown to me at this time. It is also known as Brushy Hill or Christeson Cemetery. It is the resting place for at least 23 Christeson family members, possibly including a freed slave, or slave descendant, by the name of Ive. The two earliest recorded burials took place in March of 1890. Wiley Christeson, an infant son of James and Louisa, and Minnie B. Dickson, the 9 year old daughter of Joe L. Dickson were both laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery then. At least one more person was buried in this graveyard after it’s relocation. Matt Christeson was laid to rest here in 1949.An article in The Guidon, published in 2008 states
“Cedar Hill Cemetery is filled almost entirely with the Christeson family, showing the passage of that family’s life from 1819 until 1940. The original Christeson married couple both lived for 82 years each before passing on in the first decade of the 1900’s, living long enough to see many of their progeny die before they did. One married couple died within 7 days of each other in 1916.”
Editor's note: New information has come to light on Cedar Hill Cemetery. This information came from a reliable Pulaski County historian who is very knowledgeable about the Christeson family. Before 1942-1943 there were two Christeson family cemeteries. The A. Christeson Cemetery is still in it’s original location. It is believed that this cemetery was also known as Cedar Hill Cemetery because of it’s proximity to Cedar Hill School which was located on a cedar covered bluff. There was also a C. Christeson Cemetery which was located at Township 35-Range 11-Section 8, not far away. In 1942 or 1943 these two family cemeteries were combined. Up to 23 graves were moved from the C. Christeson Cemetery to the A. Christeson Cemetery. It is believed that at one time a wall divided the A. Christeson graves from the C. Christeson graves.
