Isaac Jefferson Odom (1853-1916)

Isaac Odom, of near Hancock, died Sunday night of appendicitis, on a Frisco passenger train between Newburg and Rolla, while enroute to a St. Louis hospital, to undergo an operation. The deceased was 61 years of age. He leaves a wife and five children to mourn his departure. He was converted and joined the Baptist Church at the age of 20 years, spending 44 years in the Lord's service, loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a candidate for the office of judge of the County Court for the Eastern District. Funeral services were conducted at the home, Tuesday evening, by the Rev. J.L. Hicks of Richland. The remains were laid to rest in the Joiner Cemetery by the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Crocker, members of Waynesville and Dixon lodges assisting in the ceremonies. The attendance was large, thus attesting the great esteem in which he was held.
