Anna (Dailey) Threlkeld 1914-2007

Anna Threlkeld, daughter of the late Norman and Nettie (Rima) Dailey, was born October 6, 1914 in Kansas. At the age of 9, Anna and her family moved to Missouri in a covered wagon. She graduated from Richland High School.

On January 12, 1935, Anna was united in marriage to John Threlkeld and they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage together. They were blessed with three children: James, Nettie and Jo Ann. John preceded Anna in death in 1983.

Anna was a hardworking woman and took great pride in helping to provide for her family. She was able to be self-employed as a seamstress so she could be at home caring for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, painting, quilting and sewing.

Anna passed away July 21, 2007 in her home in Birmingham, Alabama at the age of 92 years, 9 months, 15 days.

Anna will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by one son: James H. Threlkeld of St. Louis, MO; two daughters: Nettie L. Mahaffey-Phillips and her husband, Rayburn of Birmingham, AL and Jo Ann Sletten and her husband, Larry of Madison, WI; five grandchildren: Carl and Brent Sletten, both of Madison, WI, David Mahaffey of Pinson, AL, Debbie Carlisle and her husband, Bryan of Warrior, AL and Denise Boyd and her husband, DeWayne of Gardendale, AL; eleven great grandchildren; one sister: Artie Dozier of Garden City, KS; several other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by one sister: Irene Hannen; two brothers: Norman E. and Cameron Dailey; and one son-in-law: Frank Mahaffey.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 26, 2007 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bill Dudley officiating. Serving as escorts were Lonny Davis, David Mahaffey, Rayburn Phillips, Carl, Brent and Larry Sletten. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
