Sharon Kay (Holt) Carriger 1944-2005

"Kay", the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie (Rhoades) Holt, was born October 6, 1944 in Mountain Grove, Missouri.

As a young woman, Kay moved to the St. Robert area in the early 60s where she worked at Jodies Cafe for several years. During that time she met her future husband, Elbert Carriger, and eventually had two sons, Jeff and Jesse. Kay loved her boys and enjoyed being a devoted mom each and every day.

Kay, along with Elbert, founded St. Robert Glass Co, Inc in the mid 60s. She worked tirelessly to build and expand a successful and prosperous family business over the last 45 + years. The glass shop was her legacy and it continues to run today by her eldest Son.

She loved the City of St. Robert and called this her home. She was elected the first woman alderman in 1979, and served again on the city council in 2002. As a business owner and politically active individual, she played a part in helping to make the City of St. Robert what it has become today.

Kay loved to garden and had the prettiest yard in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed collecting antique glass, playing cards, laughing and making others laugh with her. Her family was a very important part of her life.

Sharon passed away at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 18, 2005 in her home at the age of 60 years, 8 months and 12 days. Her family and many members of this community will miss her greatly.
