Birdett C. Cole 1924-2002

Birdett C. Cole, 77, Dixon, died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Life Care Center, Waynesville.

He was one of ten children born to Get Cole and Veronie, nee Mays, on August 22, 1924, at Groesbeck, Texas, in Limestone county.

On October 5, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas, Mr. Cole married Lula Mae (Williams) Kinney.

The couple shared nearly 43 years together.

In the mid-1960s, they moved to Missouri, where Mr. Cole took a job with a commercial construction company in St. Louis.

He soon bought a farm in the rural Dixon area in Pulaski county where the couple made their home.

Mr. Cole is survived by his wife, Lula Mae, Dixon; two stepsons, Donnie Williams, Los Angeles, California, and Clarence Octavius Kinney, Dallas, Texas; four brothers, Lonzie Cole, Villa Ridge, Kenneth Cole, Seagraves, Texas, J.V. Cole,Lubbock, Texas, and Joe Cole, of the State of Nevada; five sisters, Zelma Williams, Shirley Cleveland and Myrtle Mae Cole,all of Lubbock, Texas, Maple Lee Willliams, Fort Worth, Texas, and Erma Cole, Seagraves, Texas; two stepgrandchildren,Clarence Octavius, Jr., and Heather Michelle Hopson; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 22, at Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Clifford McDaniel officiating.

Acknowledgments were read by Diane Williams, and family comments were shared by Shirley Cleveland and Rev. Lonzie Cole.

Interment was in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Waynesville.

Memorials to the Cole family are preferred.
