Lewis Alexander Carter 1860-1932

Lewis Alexander Carter was born in Tennesse, July 23, 1860, and departed this life at about 4 p.m., Monday, September 12, 1932; age at time of death, 72 years, 1 month, and 20 days.

He was married early in life, to Martha Watson, who preceded him in death about 33 years ago. To this union 11 children were born, three having passed away in infancy. Those surviving are: Emma, Margaret, and Mollie Duncan, of Rolla, Missouri, Laura Queen, Bessie Harilson and Lucille Aldrich of St. Louis, Pete and Tom Carter of near Dixon.

He was later married to Mary Keaton, who, with 6 children of this union, is left to mourn his passing, one daughter having passed on in infancy, leaving Lewis, Perry, and Elmer at home, Willie, of Big Piney, Missouri, Ollie Ross, of Liberal, Kansas, and Elsie Thompson, of near Waynesville, Missouri.
Mr. Carter was a fine, honest man, a faithful and loyal husband and father, and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He will be sadly missed in his home and by his friends.
He was converted when a young man, and during his last sickness, said he was ready to go, and passed quietly out of this world into the Great Beyond, where there is no more sickness, sorrow, or pain.

Our loss is his eternal gain, as he has only gone to rest, to await the Resurrection.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sooter of Dixon, at the Fairview cemetery, Tuesday, September 13, at bout 3 o'clock p.m., amidst a number of sorrowing relatives and friends.
