Peggy was united in marriage on October 26, 1962, at Dixon, to Dale Waak who preceded her in death on October 11, 1986. She was later united in marriage on April 9, 1991, at Lebanon to James R. “Jim” Harrison. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by one son, David Waak on May 3, 1995; her father on October 3, 2008; her mother on September 5, 2003; and her sister, Carolyn Cardin on October 23, 1987.
Peggy was a member of Pisgah Church, near Dixon, were she had taught Sunday School for many years. She had worked as a nurse’s aid in the Dixon School system and later for Lynch’s Furniture. She took great pride in helping with the perpetual care for the Pisgah Cemetery and loved being outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing and being with her family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Peggy include: her husband: Jim Harrison, of Dixon; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Donnie Robertson, Dixon; two stepdaughters, Gina Kean, state of Florida and Sherry Ortiz, state of Georgia; one brother and sister-in-law, James “Jim” and Janet Cardin, Dixon; three granddaughters, Desri Robertson, Dixon; Mandie Waak, Argyle; and Kelsey Waak, state of Indiana; seven step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Peggy at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 6, 2009, in the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon, with Bro. Steve Lynch officiating. “Sissy’s Song” and “Supper Time” were sung for the funeral service.
Interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Peggy were Donnie Robertson, Ronnie Brown, Travis Hardesty, Brian Holtsclaw, Brent Holtsclaw and Jon Rigsby. Honorary pallbearers were David Holzer and Clarence Purcell.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested by the family to the Pisgah Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon.
