Martha Lee Alma (St. Clair) Methvin 1924-2008

Martha Lee Alma Methvin, 84 of Lebanon, Missouri, formerly of Waynesville, Missouri, died Monday, December 29, 2008 at her home, The Essex in Lebanon, Missouri.

She was born January 12, 1924 to Ralph Benton and Rachael Isabel (Myers) St. Clair, who preceded her in death. She was one of 5 children.

She married John Thomas Methvin on September 18, 1947, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1988.

Martha was an Army nurse who served our country during World War II. She became a homemaker upon starting a family. She was always a devoted wife and mother. She will be best remembered for her sense of humor and generosity to others. Martha established the first Crisis Center for abused women and children in Waynesville, Missouri back in the early 80's.

One daughter, Sandra Lee Swedo, of Fulton, Missouri preceded her in death in August 2003.

She is survived by 2 sons: Thomas Methvin and his wife Anna of Niceville, Florida and John B. Methvin of Aiken, South Carolina; one daughter, Sharon Carter and her husband Randy of Lebanon, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, and many other loved ones.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2009 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Lindell Shelden officiating. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory.

A memorial has been established to St. John's Hospice Care; donations can be left at Waynesville Memorial Chapel or at St. John's Hospice-Lebanon (1210 Deadra Drive).
