Michael Francis McGrath 1957-2005

Michael Francis McGrath, son of the late Robert & Helen (Drummand) McGrath, was born January 27, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois, where he grew up and attended school.

Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 31, 1979. He served his country honorably until 1985, receiving several awards and commendations.

On September 26, 1981, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Michael was united in marriage with Jo Ann Clemons. Michael and Jo Ann shared two children, Michael and Megan.

Michael worked for EDP at Fort Leonard Wood in the mess halls as a dining room facility attendant for 8 years. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 331 and the 40-8 in St. Robert. He enjoyed calling bingo for the legion and spending time with his family and friends.

Michael departed this life the afternoon of June 9, 2005 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Springfield, Missouri at the age of 48 years, 4 months and 13 days.

He was dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by his wife: Jo Ann McGrath, and daughter: Megan McGrath both of the home; his son: Specialist Michael McGrath and his wife, Summer of Killeen, TX; his mother-in-law: Joan Clemons of Waynesville and several other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dock Clemons.

A graveside service was held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 13, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Mark Peck officiating. Michael's good friend, Brian gave a beautiful eulogy. Family and friends served as escorts. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
