LESTER HENRY CLARK, 1903-1990

Lester Henry Clark of Buckhorn, son of Verette Clark and Florence Eldora (Bales) Clark, was born February 13, 1903, at Belfonte, MO. He went to be with his Lord May 30, 1990, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, at the age of 87.
Lester accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized in 1925. He was a member of the Buckhorn Baptist Church.
He was united in marriage to Ruby King, and to this union five children were born: Walter, Beauford, Donald, Gilbert, and Geneva. Gilbert and Geneva preceded him in death.
On September 9, 1950, in Arkansas, he was married to Verdie Leah Harris Salsman, and to this union one son, Gary, was born.
Lester enjoyed farming and the outdoors. He was a kind and gentle man and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife Verdie; four sons, Gary, Walter, and Beauford all of Waynesville, and Donald of Lebanon; two step-daughters, Maxine Hutton of Pekin, IL and Pauline Dennis of Akron, OH; a stepson Jimmy Salsman of East Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two children and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 1990, in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. Music was provided by Rev. Larry Atkins. Serving as escorts were Gary Clark, Chris Clark, Jimmy Salsman, Earl Dennis, Jimmy Hutton and Art Simmoneau, Sr. Serving as honorary escorts were Art Simmoneau, Jr., and Edward Gutierrez.
Burial was in the Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
