Mr. Peter "Pete" David Wright, of Dixon, was born on April 7, 1928, at Alton, Illinois a son of Frank and Faye (Rintoul) Wright and departed this life at 8:31 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2010, at his residence in Dixon. Mr. Wright had been ill for some time and had attained the age of 82 years, 3 months and 23 days.
Mr. Wright was united in marriage on May 4, 1996 in Pulaski County to Barbara Imogene Lawson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jessie L. Atterberry; one daughter, Bridgette Griffen and brothers and sisters.
Mr. Wright was a United States veteran and had retired from ABB, Westinghouse, in Jefferson City. He loved to fish and be with his family.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Wright include: his wife, Barbara Wright, Dixon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patricia and Roger Bean and Tonya Atterberry, all of Dixon; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Wright at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Rev. Don Kabel, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiating. Four favorite musicals selections were played for the serviced.
Interment with full military honors was in the Jim-Matt Lawson Cemetery, Iberia under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Wright were Rodney Templeton, Brad Atterberry, Andy Brown, Dale Templeton, Kenny Baker and Malcom Carron. Honorary pallbearers were Logan Atterberry, Mike Kitson, Sr.; Linda Atterberry and Clark Kitson. The Leismann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon provided military honors.
