MR. DALE JOSEPH GREER
Dale Joseph Greer, of Crocker, was born on April 27, 1933, at Webster Grove, a son of Walter Wade and Sylvia (Story) Greer and departed this life at 8:38 p.m., Sunday, April 4, 2010, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood. Mr. Greer had attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Mr. Greer was united in marriage on April 11, 1998, at Crocker to Rosemary “Rody” Skinner. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 12, 2009; his father on March 17, 1978; his mother on August 18, 1989; four sisters, Maxine, Nadine, Norma and Betty.
Mr. Greer was a member of the Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker and a United States Army veteran. He had worked as a construction Forman and was a member of the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 110 for over 50 years. He loved to fish, deer hunt, yard work and go to church singings.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Greer include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Patty Greer, Lebanon; two step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Danny “Moose” and Barb Lane, Dixon and Mike and Becky Lane, Swedeborg; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jimmy Doyle, Dixon; one sister, Judy Roebuck, Immokalee, Florida; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Greer at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Bro. Billy Claiborn, Hilltop Christian Union Church, Crocker, officiating. “The Old Rugged Cross”, “When We All Get To Heaven” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were played for the service.
Interment with full military honors was in the Antioch Cemetery, near Crocker, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Greer were Dale Fall, Jason Fall, Kenneth Greer, Jr., Jimmy Doyle, II, Doug Burnett and Darrell Burnett.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Crocker Senior Center in memory of Dale Greer, with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Crocker.
