ROSCOE PRESTON ANDERSON 1917-1993


Roscoe Preston Anderson, son of Orville Preston Anderson and LaVada Frances Hammock Anderson, was born May 18, 1917, in Pulaski County, Missouri and departed this life January 6. 1993 in Breech Medical Center, Lebanon, Mo.
In October of 1938 he was united in marriage with Velma Kelsey and to this union were born three children. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda June, who died at the age of 7 months.
On May 18, 1962 he was united in marriage with Myrtle Gann Starnes, who survives.
As a young man he professed his faith in Christ and was baptized, uniting with the Independence Baptist Church at Hazelgreen.
Roscoe loved his family. His favorite pasttime was taking his beagles out rabbit hunting. Every Saturday morning he enjoyed going to the local sale barn to visit old friends.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of the home, one son, Gary Anderson of St. James, Mo; a daughter, Veda Jennings of Richland; a step-daughter, Phyllis Long of Lebanon; five grandchildren, Vincent Lee Anderson, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, Va.;Roger Jennings of Crocker; Larry and Mark Jennings of Swedeborg; Danny Jennings, Richland; and a granddaughter, Kathy Metzer, Lawton OK; seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Nelson Anderson of Lebanon; three sisters; Leta Quesenberry and Mary Belton both of Richland and Ruth Goodrich, Waynesville, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends who mourn his passing.
He was also.preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leslie, Harry, Kermita and Glen; one sister, Opal; and one grandson, Ronnie Jennings.
Services were held Saturday, January 9,1993 at 10:30 a.m. at Colonial Funeral Chapel,with Pryor Ray Prewett officiating. Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, soloist and Delores Shadel, organist.
Escorts were Larry Jennings, Danny Jennings. Virgil Lane, Mark Jennings, Richard Long and Elvin Lane.
Final resting place for Mr. Anderson is Hazelgreen Cemetery.
