Mary M. (Elledge) Collins 1920-2005

Mary M. Collins was born June 13, 1920 in Madison County, Alabama. She was one of ten children born to the union of the late Walter and Ollie (Curry) Elledge.

On May 24, 1960, Mary was united in marriage with Adam Collins in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mary and Adam shared nearly 37 years of marriage before he preceded her in death February 12, 1997.

While living in Huntsville, Alabama, Mary worked for several years at a laundry mat. Upon moving to the Chicago, Illinois area, she was employed at a plastics manufacturing factory.

Mary was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, crossword puzzles and soap operas.

Mary departed this life May 26, 2005 at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Mary will be greatly missed by her son: Gary Collins of Waynesville; two daughters: Sarah "Sue" Greenstreet of Cuba and Barbara Hutton of Waynesville; step daughter: Sharon Wilson of Karnak, Illinois; two brothers: Arvil Elledge and Gene Elledge both of Huntsville, Alabama; 10 grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers: Willie and Lloyd Elledge and five sisters: Hattie Newby, Eva Bowden, Omie Greer, Estel Smith and one in infancy.

A graveside service was held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 28, 2005 in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. Serving as escorts were family and friends. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.
