Vivian June Pemberton 1928-2012

Vivian June Pemberton, daughter of Edward Martin and Marion Carol (Lattiak) Station, was born June 4, 1928, in Chicago, IL. She departed this life Friday, April 27, 2012, in the Saint Alexius Hospital, in St. Louis, MO at the age of eighty-three years, ten months and twenty-three days.

On June 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to Clay Pemberton and to this union eleven children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, JoAnne; and two sons, Jim and Jack Pemberton.

Vivian is survived by her children, Joyce Douglas of Urbana, MO, Jeff Pemberton of St. Louis, MO, Jeannette Pemberton of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Pemberton of Springfield, MO, Jacqueline Pemberton of the State of Missouri, Mary Nelson and her husband, William of Richland, MO, Judy Pemberton of St. Louis, MO and Jayne Pemberton of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Station and wife, Eleanor, of Woodstock, IL; and her sister, Charlotte Pemberton of Richland, MO; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She was born in Illinois and resided there during her childhood. She met and married and for many years of her life lived in Chicago, IL raising her family. In 1973 she moved to Richland, MO for a few years and later relocated to St. Louis, MO where she was currently residing. Throughout her life she was a homemaker caring for her family. Vivian also worked as a certified nurses’ aid in home health care.

Vivian was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Louis. She loved volunteering for the church and helping the homeless. She worked at the soup kitchens and was always ready to give a helping hand to those in need or speak a word of encouragement.

She loved to read and had great thirst for knowledge. Visiting and sitting outside enjoying the outdoor gave her great pleasure.

Vivian was a loving and devoted mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, and a precious sister and aunt. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Funeral mass was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father John Groner officiating. Organist Evelyn Horine led the congregation in musical responses. Serving as escorts were Dominique Pemberton, Roy Hubbard, Jeremiah Hubbard, William Nelson, William Williams, Tracy Wright and Randall Pemberton. Burial followed in the Resurrection Cemetery of St. Robert. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
