Joel B. “J.B.” Simmons Jr 1942-2009

Joel B. “J.B.” Simmons Jr., 66, of Rolla, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center.
Funeral is at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in Salem Avenue Baptist Church, Rolla, with the Rev. Mark Johnson and Leroy Tucker officiating. Internment with full military honors is at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Idumea Cemetery in Laquey.
Visitation for family and friends is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in Null & Son Funeral Home, Rolla.
J.B. was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Tampa, Fla., to Joel B. Simmons Sr. and Dorothy B. Barmes Simmons.
He married Connie Nickels on Nov. 7, 1963.
J.B. was a retired U.S. Army Captain having served from 1960-1980. He later began a 21-year career with the U.S.G.S. in Rolla.
He was a long time member and deacon at the Salem Avenue Baptist Church in Rolla.
In addition to his parents, his brother, James A. Simmons, preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife Connie; two children: Kelly Bethel and her husband Bryan of Patterson, and Joel Duane Simmons and his wife Tina of Rolla; a brother, John C. Simmons and his wife Pat of Sherwood, Ark.; three sisters: Helen Jones of Delight, Ark., Ann Gardner and her
