Leroy accepted Christ as his personal saviour and was baptized into Christ at First Christian Church of Richland, October, 1958, and has remained faithful to his church as long as his health permitted.
Leroy has lived his entire life in Richland and attended school here. He always took an active part in organizing the reunions which his graduating class had quite frequently.
He attended Florist School in St. Louis, upon completion of which he opened his own flower shop in Richland, and enjoyed his work and his customers very much. For the past two years. Leroy provided flower arrangements for the church sanctuary, making new and different arrangements every month.
He was preceded in death by his father, and grandfathers and grandmothers.
Survivors include his Mother, Irene Hughes of the home. 3 uncles, Vernon and Raymond Smith of Jefferson City and Colombia, Missouri respectively, and Orville Smith of the home, several other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Christian Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 1984 with John Davenport officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Chapels. Escorts were James Laquey, Ed Bohannon, Cleamont Sheeley, Steve Belshe, Jim Dippert, Richard Homman.
