Joseph W. Lee d. September 12, 2009

Joseph W. Lee, 93, of Iberia, formerly of Malden, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, in Life Care Center, Waynesville.
Funeral was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2009, in the Long Funeral Home, Crocker. Graveside service is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Elder Cemetery, Malden, under the direction of the funeral home.
Joseph is survived by a son, Carl and his wife Marie Lee of Rolla; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.


Joseph Woodrow Lee, of Iberia, formerly of Malden, was born on June 14, 1916, at Aquilla, a son of George W. and Alma Susie (Knowles) Lee, and departed this life at 4:50 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009, in the Life Care Center, Waynesville. Mr. Lee had attained the age of 93 years, 2 months and 28 days.

Mr. Lee was united in marriage on June 9, 1935, at Malden to Flossie Redmon and to this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 14, 1993; his father in 1956; his mother in 1982; one son, Larry Joe Lee on September 2, 1988; one daughter, Alma Ellen Gains on April 29, 2009; one brother Robert Edward Lee; one sister, Dora Hicks; a half sister, Julie Cullum and one great-great grandson, Benjamin Gains on July 26, 2008.

Mr. Lee had been a self-employed laborer for all his working life and was always diligent in providing for the needs of his family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Lee include: one son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Marie Lee, Rolla; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Lee at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2009, in the Long Funeral Home, Crocker, with Pastor Dan Phillips, Center Community Church of God, Rolla, officiating.

Graveside services and interment were in the Elder Cemetery, Malden, under the direction of the Long Funeral Home, Crocker.
