David Judson Anthony 1917-2005

David Judson Anthony, son of the late Willis John and Marjorie Lucille (Judson) Anthony, was born May 8, 1917 in Escanaba, Michigan, where he grew up and attended school. As a young boy, David was baptized and attended a Methodist church.


In June of 1943, David was united in marriage to Jane Dettinger in Little Falls, New York. They shared many wonderful years together and were blessed with five children: Matthew, Janet, Joyce, Gail and Thomas.

David furthered his education after high school at Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a very intelligent person and held many different positions such as aerospace engineer for Ryan, Convair and Ford Aerospace. He was also a World Book salesman.


David was a very active person and was involved in different organizations such as Descendant of the Mayflower Society, IEEE, Rock Clubs and he was a Mason. In his spare time, David enjoyed building model airplanes and making wire jewelry. He was an avid Ham Radio operator and enjoyed meeting people while on the radio. He enjoyed Rockhound dogs, playing the trumpet and cornet, sailing and playing golf. Most importantly, he treasured the times that he could spend with his family and friends.


David passed away at 1:15 A.M. Sunday, July 17, 2005 at his sons home near Stoutland, Missouri at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 9 days.


David will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by four children: Matthew Anthony of Richland; Janet Watling and her husband, Hugh of Livermore, California, Joyce Barbarich and her husband, Peter of Vienna, Austria and Gail Jones and her husband, Richard of Costa Mesa, California; six grandchildren: John, Carolyn, Gail and Chris Watling, Elena and David Barbarich; family friend: Mary Dell Gray; several nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Jane and one son: Thomas.

Services will be held at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of Richland Memorial Chapel.
