Virginia Elizabeth (Hopkins) Ulrich 1929-2007

Virginia Elizabeth (Hopkins) Ulrich was born December 9, 1929 in Curryville, Missouri the second child born to Roswell Isaac and Lillian Dell (Curry) Hopkins.


She passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2007 in the Richland Care Center at the age of 77 years.

She attended school in the Buckner Hollow and Bowling Green, Missouri areas. Due to family obligations, Virginia left high school before graduating, but later studied and obtained her GED in 1975.


In 1947, Virginia married Raymond Ulrich and they were blessed with four children before divorcing in 1980.

Virginia moved with her family to Idaho in 1961 and then returned to Missouri in 1986 to reside in the Richland, Missouri area. Virginia was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and decorating cakes for special occasions. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Richland and attended when she was able.


Virginia leaves to cherish her memory four children: Paula Aznoe (Gerry) of Polson, MT, Robert Dale Ulrich of Pocatello, ID, Pastor Fred Ulrich (Ruby) of Oakridge, OR and Anna Rae Simons (Jim) of Hollister, MO; 1 brother: Glenn Hopkins of Springfield, IL; 2 sisters: Marjorie Fletcher and Sue Echelberry, both of Richland, MO; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one great granddaughter.


Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bowling Green, Missouri with Rev. Fred Ulrich officiating. Family and friends served as escorts. Services were under the direction of Richland Memorial Chapel.


Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church of Richland for scholarships for youth camps and may be left at the Richland Memorial Chapel.
