Gerald C. "Jerry" Pulley, Jr. 1961-2009

Gerald C. "Jerry" Pulley, Jr., 47, of Dixon, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in his home from cancer.
Funeral is at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, with the Rev. Philip Honeycutt officiating. Burial with military honors is in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Jerry was born Nov. 23, 1961, in Iola, Kan., the son of Gerald C. and Princess N.R. Turner Pulley, Sr. He graduated from Iola High School and joined the United States Army, which he made a career out of with the present rank of sergeant first class. He was a paratrooper and medic and served in the Granada Conflict and the Iraq War. He was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood when he left active duty and joined the reserves.
On Jan. 3, 2003, Jerry married Kimberly Summerfield and they made their home in Dixon. He also worked for the Pulaski County Ambulance and Coastal International Security. He belonged to and participated in the activities of REACT which is a Pulaski County volunteer organization.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly, of the home; a son, Gerald C. Pulley III of Iola, Kan.; three stepdaughters from a previous marriage: Krystal, Sammie Joe and Alexis Torres of New York; two brothers: Ricky Pulley of Miami, Okla., and James Pulley of Parsons, Kan; three sisters: LaTanya Pulley of Missouri, Melinda Clark of Webb City, and Yolanda Pulley of Pittsburg, Kan.; a grandson and two step-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Stephanie Jennings.
Memorials are suggested to REACT, a Pulaski County volunteer organization.
Memorials may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is charge of arrangements.
