John David Lapine 1915-1984

John David Lapine, son of John J. Lapine and Edna (Hutchinson) Lapine, was born Januray 28, 1915 in Lynn, Massachusetts. He departed this life at his home in Crocker, Missouri, on October 8, 1984 having attained the age of 69.

He served as a member of the United States Army for thirty years. He engaged in World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served his country with a devotion that was evidenced by his many awards and service medals, among them the Purple Heart.

On his retirement from the military, John and his wife Setsu moved to Crocker, Missouri where he served as a deputy sheriff for Pulaski County and Municipal Judge in Crocker from May 1974 to January 1983.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4956 and the American legion.

Mr. Lapine had said “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember all of you. If you can only remember me in tears, don’t even remember me at all.”

He is survived by his wife Setsu (Katagiri) Lapine, four sons: Shigeru Lapine and David Lapine, both of Kansas City, Missouri, John David Lapine, II and Raymond Lapine, both of Crocker, Missouri; two daughters: Marty Emerson of Wisconsin, and Jan Lewis of California, and three grandchildren.

A graveside service for family and close friends was held Saturday, October 13, 1984 at 11:00 a.m., Floyd Barlow officiating. Burial was in the Crocker Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Waynesville Memorial Funeral Chapel.
