Abraham Echols Rowden 1818-1883

Died, at his residence in Dixon, Pulaski county, Mo., Mr. A. E. Rowden, on the 15th day of August, A.D. 1883, of consumption, aged 65 years 6 months and 20 days. Mr. Rowden was born in Roane County, Tenn., January 25, 1818, and settled in Osage county, Mo., in November, 1841. In 1846, at the age of 28 years he was elected a judge of the Osage county court. He made a canvass of Osage county in 1850 as a Benton candidate for the legislature and was elected. And again in 1854 he was re-elected judge of the Osage county court, and served as such until the organization of Maries county, and in 1855 was appointed a judge of the Maries county court by Gov. Sterling Price. In 1859 Mr. Rowden was elected surveyor for Maries county, and in 1862 was elected clerk of the circuit and county courts for a term of six years.
