Dale George 1930-2005

Dale George, son of the late Charles Raymond and Carrie Mae (Tully) George, was born July 24, 1930 in Dixon, Missouri where he grew up and graduated from school.

Dale served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1956 and in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960.

On October 1, 1956, Dale was united in marriage to Peggy Lou Breakfield in Lebanon, Missouri. They shared over 48 years of marriage and many happy memories together.

Dale was a business owner in the Waynesville/St. Robert area for several years. He and his brother, Bill owned and operated the K&G Standard Service Station, the Post Standard Service Station and the Big Brush Car Wash. They later acquired the Super 8 Motel and the St. Robert Auto Supply Store. Dale was very busy, but he enjoyed working and meeting the different people he served.

In his spare time, Dale loved traveling in his motor home, especially wintering in Mexico. Every morning of the world, Dale would meet his friends at the local coffee shop, sharing cups of coffee and a lot of stories. Dale and Peggy loved going to the Lake of Ozarks, where they would stay at their lake house. Dale enjoyed boating and fishing on the lake.

Dale passed away at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Life Care Center of Waynesville, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 6 days.

Dale will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife: Peggy of the home; three brothers: Raymond George, Jr. and his wife, Vivian of Joplin, Bill George and his wife, Hettie of Waynesville and Larry George and his wife, C.J. of Norman, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law: Ruby Breakfield of Lebanon; sister-in-law: Joyce McKee and her husband, Kenneth of Lebanon and brother-in-law: James Breakfield and his wife, Glenda of Gore, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 1, 2005 in the Waynesville Memorial Chapel with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. An instrumental version of "Amazing Grace" was played. Serving as escorts were Steve Helton, Leonard King, Larry Lercher, Doug Long, Al Rippee and J.T. Roberts. Serving as honorary escorts were Charles Bench, Bob Jenkins, Bob Jewel, Bob Roth and Dave Roth.

Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waynesville Memorial Chapel.

Memorial contributions are suggested in memory of Dale George to the American Cancer Society or the Phelps County Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
