Cara Virginia (Gentry) Musser 1922-2005

Funeral Services for Cara Musser, 82, long-time Ekalaka and Plevna area resident will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Plevna. Burial will be in the Plevna Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker.

Cara passed away on Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Holy Rosary Hospital under Hospice Care in Miles City.

Cara was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 5, 1922, the daughter of Rueben and Lucy (Marsh) Gentry. She attended multiple schools in Missouri and graduated in Kirkwood, where she graduated from high school in 1941. She then attended nursing school at George Washington University in St. Louis. Cara married Richard Eric “Doc” Musser on July 17, 1943 in St Louis, Missouri. While Doc was serving in Korea, Cara lived in Missouri. They lived in Waynesville, Missouri where Doc practiced family medicine prior to moving to Salt Lake in 1956 where they resided while he did is residence in Anesthesiology. In 1957, they moved to Ekalaka, Montana where Doc had a practice for over 20 years. In 1965, Cara received her LPN Degree at the age of 45 in Eugene, Oregon. They retired and lived in Bozeman for about five years before Doc came out of retirement, working in Baker and living in Plevna. They then retired to Bozeman from 1988 to 1996, moving back to Plevna. She remained in Plevna until the time of her death.

Cara was a member of First Baptist Church in Plevna and also served on the church board. She was also a member of D.A.R (Daughters of the American Revolution), the Red Hat Club, the Hugunats Society and wrote the Plevna News for the Fallon County Times in Baker. Cara enjoyed working with her flowers, watching the birds, and listening to good music. She also enjoyed entertaining and taking trips with Doc in their plane. She was a very festive person with a big heart.

Cara is survived by a son, Dr. Richard Eric Musser Jr. and his wife Kimbra of Doniphan, MO; a daughter, Cara Suzanne “Suzy” Musser of Miles City, MT; two brothers: Rueben “Bud” Gentry and his wife Harriet of Phoenix, AZ: and Luther “Lew” Zimmerman and his wife Val of Woodstock, NY; seven grandchildren: Robert “Rob” Musser, Michele (Tim) Katz, Joanie (Eric) Bechtle, Steve (Stacey) Curry, Drew Tonn, Zackary Barton and Heather Carta; nine great grandchildren; Jackson, Macey, Connor, Xander, Georie, Ryan, Lauren, Elysse, Coleton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dr. Richard Eric Musser Sr.
