Etta Dye Woods 1879-1977

Etta Dye Woods was born on November 16, 1879, near Big Piney, Missouri, to Cornelius Webb Dye and Laura Roberts Dye, and departed this life on May 22, 1977, at the home of her daughter in St. Louis, having attained the age of 97 ½ years. Although she still considered Pulaski County her home, she had resided in St. Louis since 1931.

In 1903 she was united in marriage to Robert Breeden and to this union was born a daughter, Lela. He preceded her in death in 1907 and in 1912 she was united in marriage to Joseph Woods. To this union was born two daughters, Jewel and Doris. Mr. Woods preceded her in death in 1933.

Early in life she gave her life to Christ and united with the Baptist Church and remained true to her faith and attended church until health problems prevented it.

Survivors include her daughters, Lela Greer of Sacramento, California, Jewel Light and Doris Burkhardt, both of St. Louis, one step-daughter, Vera Reed of St. Louis. Two grandchildren, Joetta Roth of Ennis, Texas and Gary light of St. Louis. Also surviving are nine great grand children and two great great grandchildren, two brothers Burley Dye of Waynesville and Bland Dye of Laquey, and one sister Odessa Roam, of Waynesville.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 23, at 2 p.m. at the Long Moss Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesville with rev. Harvey Dye officiating, Interment was in the Big Piney Cemetery under the direction of Long Moss Williams Funeral Homes Inc.

Pallbearers were Bob Davis, Bill Dye, Dale Roam, Burton A. Dye, Herman Dye, Roy Lee Dye, and George Lane.
