Margarethe Hansen 1919-2009

Margarethe Hansen, of Dixon, was born in Kiel, Germany on April 12, 1919, and departed this life at 1:22 p.m., Sunday afternoon, March 29, 2009, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hansen had attained the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

Mrs. Hansen was united in marriage on November 18, 1944, in Germany to Marius Anton Hansen. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 13, 2005; and her parents.

Mrs. Hansen had attended the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and needlework. She had done factory work as well as being a housewife and homemaker, always diligent in providing for the needs of her family.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Hansen include: one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Elizabeth Petersen, Dixon; three grandchildren, Rhonda Trout and Teressa Fowler, both of Dixon and Suzanna Mueller, Germany; nine great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A Rosary service was held for Mrs. Hansen at 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, April 2, 2009 in the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon, with Rev. Walter Reisinger leading.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Hansen at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2009, in the St. Theresa Catholic Church, Dixon, with Rev. Walter Reisinger officiating.

Interment was in the Egan Cemetery, near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon.
