Nettie May (Church) York 1888-1955

Nettie May (Church) York, daughter of Dolph and Phoebe Church, was born near Waynesville, Missouri on December 28, 1888 and passed away at her home on December 9, 1955, at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 11 days. She had been in failing health for the past two years.

On May 11th, 1906 she was united in marriage to Pete York and to this union 11 children were born. Three daughters passed away in infancy.

Early in life she professed her faith in Christ and united with the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Pete York, of Waynesville, Missouri, five daughters, Ruby Gladden, Adah Hill, and Nadine Dye, all of Waynesville, Missouri, Dolpha Ledbetter of Auxvasse, Missouri, and Lois Hill of Pleasant Hill, Illinois. Three sons; Alvin of St. Louis, Missouri, Merl of Mexico, Missouri, and Private Morris York of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. One half brother Frank Hill of Waynesville, and two half sisters, Mary Anderson and Sophia Grey of Waynesville, Missouri. Thirty five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 1955 at the Mt. Gibson Baptist Church, Rev. Pryor Rae Pruitt officiating. Interment was made in the Bradford Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Waynesville, Missouri.

The pallbearers were Chas. Hill, Everett O. Hill, Junior, James Hill, Carl Gladden, Gene Gladden, and Douglas Ledbetter.
