Gordon Alexander Logan 1873-1955

Funeral Services Are Held For Long Time Waynesville Resident

Gordon Alexander Logan, son of George Lewis and Milbera Logan was born on March 25, 1873 at Edgar Springs, Missouri in Phelps County and departed this life August 20, 1955 at 9:30 P.M. at the Long’s Nursing Home near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of 82 years, four months and 25 days.

In the year 1899 he moved to Waynesville with his parents and has lived practically all of his life in this vicinity.

He united in marriage to Alice Thompson and to this union three children were born and all have preceded him in death. His wife passed away in 1902. One son passed away in infancy; another son Snowden Logan passed away in 1941; and a daughter Bessie Gaddy passed away in 1938. He also has been preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters.

In 1910 he was united in marriage to Cora Yeakley who also survives. Also surviving is one brother, G.C. Logan of St. Louis, Missouri, one sister, Alice Adams of Waterloo, Iowa, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Logan, Waynesville, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

In 1934 he became blind and with the help of others, he adjusted himself to things in everyday life that he could do and accepted it very pleasantly.

A number of years ago he was converted and united with the Waynesville Methodist Church and held membership there until time of passing. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges of Waynesville. He was a kind and loving personality and was respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday August 24, 1955 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waynesville Methodist Church with Rev. John Bolen, pastor, officiating.
Interment was made in the Bradford Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Waynesville.

Masonic rites were given by Waynesville Lodge and pallbearers were of the Waynesville Odd Fellows Lodge.
