John Elknah Admire 1910-1985

John Elknah Admire, of Tuscumbia, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 22, 1910, at Carrolton, Illinois, a son of John Edward and Mimi Young Admire and departed this life at 10"00 a.m. on Sunday morning, December 22, 1985, at the family residence in Tuscumbia after suffering congestive heart failure according to his doctor. Mr. Admire had attained the age of 75 years.

Mr. Admire was united in marriage on April 25, 1931 to the former Miss Eva Jane Sneed, who preceded her husband in death on September 1, 1958. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Emily Raley; and one infant brother. Mr. Admire was later united in marriage on August 17, 1959 at Miami, Oklahoma, to the former Miss Alpha Arlene McClendon. A Carpenter by trade, Mr. Admire became affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers on February 25, 1955, and worked as a fitter for them. He also was employed as a bridge worker as well as a railroad worker prior to this retirement in 1972. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Admire include: his devoted wife, Mrs. Alpha A. Admire, of the home in Tuscumbia; two sons, John A. Admire, Iberia and Karl Admire, Tuscumbia, two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Dake, Imperial, and Mrs. Beryl Wilson, Dixon; two brothers, Phil Admire, Lincoln Nebraska and William Carl Admire, State of California; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were conducted for Mr. Admire at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 24, 1985, in the Dixon Cemetery with Kenneth Dake and David Martin Officiating. Interment followed under the direction of the Dixon Chapel of The Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Family members served as pallbearers for Mr. Admire.
